RTFM first ! There is no (Debian) packages for 'ipdiscover' !!

In documentation, you have to understand there is 'ipdiscover' for agents and 'ipdiscover' for the server.

With agents, you have to activate ipdiscover, define each subnets you want, define 1 (or 2) agents for each subnets defined. Wait a day and you have ipdiscovered subnets.

Is there a way of disabling IPDiscover on all registered Agents? I Prefer running this manually on OCS Server itself using `ipdiscover-util.pl`. OCS normally Selects Most active agent to scan its networks, which is not so ideal in my usecase.

The first and second paragraph

IP discovery feature allow OCS Inventory to discover all network connected devices on the network.
For this, Communication server asks a number of most “active” computers running OCS Inventory agent to scan for MAC addresses in their sub network at each run. They will not scan the entire wide area network, but only their local network defined by the couple IP address/subnet mask.

Inventory are carried out by agents (and only agents) ! Have you an agent in the network you hope informations ?

I have new installed Debian 11 and OCS inventory 2.9.2 on this tutorial .

After install OCS Inventory Agent Version 2.9.0.0 or 2.9.1.0 and waiting 2 days IpDiscovery GUI is empty.

Next on windows Agent execute OCSInventory.exe /ipdisc="10.2.222.0" /debug=2

in agents logs

AGENT => IpDiscover required by /IPDISC on network 10.2.222.0

IPDISCOVER => Scanning to detect IPv4 enabled hosts for network <10.2.222.0> with <100> ms between

after waiting 2 hoyrs IpDiscovery GUI is empty.

after 1 or 2 hours in IpDiscovery GUI started showing up, but isn't not correctly

hm.. you can only see logs on the server from computers are connecting or trying to connect to the server. So you should look in apache log.

IP Discover not working

Hi, I'm using OCS 2.8 and I'm facing problems with IP Discover feature on Centos 7.

After installing OCS, I've noticed a log error in error_log (apache):

ocsinventory-server: Bad setting. `IPDISCOVER_LINK_TAG_NETWORK` is not set. Default: `0

(Don't know if this is related to IPDiscover problem)

After waiting for 1 day, I've checked IPDiscover page and it not get any subnet from my network, then I've installed manually the ocs agent in my DNS/DHCP server and even so (after waiting 1 more day) it didn't work.

I've tried to run "ipdiscoverutil-pl" and it returned that the IPDiscover didn't find any other addresses in my subnet. Tried a lot of options using ipdiscoverutil and it returned "No unknown hosts of this network. Stop." (Even known hosts don't work).

Figured out that only IPDiscover is not working after try nmap and return all my network devices.

IPDiscovery not working

Good morning everyone,

Just finished setting up OCS Server and, to start using it, installed OCS Agent on the same VM where the server is. I have seen the data from the agent shows up on OCS Server (VM info, networks, disks, software, etc) but unfortunately ip discovery does not work.

On Inventory/ipDiscover, there are only two hosts listed (which are actually the server - one line regarding the IPv4 interna156 server IP, and another line regarding the IPv6 server IP.

I have even tried executing the ip-discovery script manually, but it always turns up empty:

ipdiscover-util.pl -p=ocs -d=dbname -u=username -h=localhost -net=192.168.156.0 -auto

How to force IP Discovery?

I've installed the agent on the server itself. In the log it shows "IpDiscover ignored". The agent discovers only the itself. I have configured snmp on other servers in the same network (172.16.121.0/24) and SNMPWALK shows it can connect.

How do I force the Discovery?

In Network -> Administer I've added the Subnet (172.16.121.0/24) and Communities.

In Group name -> Select a parameter to be modified -> Network scan: I do not see the Network I added in the option. See picture one.

But in All Computers -> Computer -> Configuration -> EDIT -> Network scans -> IPDISCOVER -> I can see the Network and I've selected it. See picture two.

Note: I added the new test_group to the self discovered host (the ocs server) by All Computers -> Computer -> Configuration -> "Statically add this group".

Are the machines from one company or many companies? You can use WORKGROUP names (applicable for all OS'es) for selecting company or (if they use OCS and shall not see each other in OCS) you can use diferent instances of OCS an then easiest way is to create Virtual Machines. But I'm not sure what say GLPI module for tha solution, can it use data from many OCS instances...

I use a local subnets for about 30 companies eg.
192.168.7.0 Company One

192.168.2.0 Company Two

etc.

You can name your subnets in ocs > Network>Admin

Para os clientes(OCS Agent) você deverá extrair o plugin baixado, procurar a pasta agent copiar o arquivo VBS e então copiar para o diretório do seu client onde foi instalado o OCS/Plugins.

I have the same problem.

I have a subnet from XX.XX.XX.32 to XX.XX.XX.61. OCS scans with IPDiscover the whole subnet from ..XX.0 to ..XX.62. I tried the solution from Tusune, but the created network doesn't show up on the IPDiscover dropdown, so i can't choose it.

I tried the Blacklist function, but this function doesn't do anything.

Can someone help me?

1. With the MAC address of the Ethernet card, does OCS Inventory fill the manufacturer automatically?

This actually is the case. It shows the MAC-Adress and then in brackets the manufacturer if it is known to OCS Inventory. I don't know from which lists they get their Manufacturer information but it works pretty well. Only some virtual MAC-adresses are shown as unknown.

2. These equipments are usually SNMP-compatible, can this allow to feed more information into OCS, such as firmware version?

As far as I know this will not be the case. There is a seperate list with SNMP-discovered devices that adds some info like a domain or type but I haven't worked with that enough to give a consistent answer to that.

But maybe here is someone who has more experience with SNMP in OCS Inventory.

I've just created VPN network, based on Debian (HP thin clients with 2GB RAM/2GB FLASH they can fit Debian 7.8) are gates from every place. There is just one external IP required for server, not neccessary static (can be updated with NO-IP)

I have the csv file with all my subnets info ( Subnet Names, UID's, Masks, etc.) that I EXPORTED from my old OCS server. Is it possible to IMPORT this csv file so all my subnets are available in this new OCS Server? Or I have to manually ADD all my subnets again?

Si ta carte réseau est en NAT, Virtualbox attribuera automatiquement la plage 10.0.0.0.

Mets tes cartes en "accès par pont". Ensuite, donne une IP à chacune de tes machines en fonction de ton réseau local. S'il est en 192.168.1.0 alors tu pourras faire fonctionner ton réseau avec ta conf actuelle.

Hi everybody,

My company have 80 class C network 192.168.X.0/24 with approximately 600 devices in total (PC, thin clients, ToIP and printers).

My OCS Server and Agent are installed on the same CentOS with the IP 192.168.0.2/24 and can acceed to all the other networks.

I would like to scan all the other networks in one shot although It can take lot of time. The aim is to retrieves SNMP informations from all the devices. But I can't force the agent to scan further than is own network (192.168.0.0/24) and don't have any choice than to select one of the network presented in the list in the field "Force IP discover" on the agent's configuration's page.

I already tried to put my agent with a class B address so I though it would scan the entire class C network, but it don't. It's like ipdiscover limit the scan on the class C agent's network only.

How can I force a Linux agent to scan a class B network?

IP-Discover et portables multi-sites

Bonjour,

je cherche une solution de gestion de plan d'adressage. Je m'intéresse donc à OCS et à sa fonction IP-discover.

J'ai lu que la fonction IP-Discover allait créer des réseaux selon la passerelle des machines qui remontent dans l'inventaire. Nous avons des machines qui sont paramétrées en multi-sites et qui vont donc changer de paramètres réseaux - et notamment de passerelle - selon les jours. Ma question est donc celle-ci : est-ce que ces ordis multi-sites apparaîtront bien dans chaque site ?

J'ai peur qu'ils n'apparaissent que dans le site où ils se seront trouvé au moment de l'inventaire. J'ai besoin d'être sûr, en visualisant le groupe d'un site, qu'une adresse IP donnée est bien libre, alors il ne faut pas que mes ordis multi-sites ne soient classés que selon leur IP actuelle au moment de la remontée d'inventaire.

Quelqu'un peut-il m'éclairer plus sur cette fonction IP-discover ?

Running the agent on windows clients

We use Broadcom Advanced Control Suite (v4) to team the NICs.

What happens is when the team is created it uses one of the MAC addresses of the two NICs to create the logical team.

This issue is the OCS identifies the other NIC and reports is as a duplicate.

How can I have OCS identify NIC teams and not report the other NIC?

Donc voilà mon problème j'ai crée des groupe dynamique en fonction de certain crtière logiciel, le soucis que j'ai eu est que le lendemain à la reconnexion toute les machines avaient disparu de mes groupes dynamique ..

Je me retrouve donc avec 3 groupes vides alors qu'ils ont bien été rempli la première fois.

Quand je clique sur le bouton "Toutes les machines (Rejouer)" j'ai un simpte "Operand should contain 1 column(s)" avec le "Patientez" en haut indéfiniment.

Je vous remercie d'avance pour l'attention porté à mon problème.

EDIT: Donc la requete était de ce style

"1) => select distinct HARDWARE_ID from softwares where ( ( NAME IN (select NAME as name, id from softwares_name_cache where NAME like '4D v13%') ))"

Pour que cela refonctionne j'ai du supprimer le ", id" et mes machines sont réapparu correctement dans les deux section..."Toutes les machines" et le cache. J'ai trouvé ceci grâce à un ancien poste datant tout de même de 2012 ou 2011.. D'ou vient le problème ? Il n'es toujours pas résolu ? Je suis en version 2.1.2.

Hi, we have quite a lot of remote locations and it is not possible to install an agent in every location, as we only have thinclinets out there. Isn't there a possibility to scan the subnets without an agent per subnet?
