Yes, I know the package is unsigned, but the article I linked specifically mentions unsigned apps

It appears the macOS packager is no longer available for download and has been replaced with (OCSNG-Unix-Packager-1.0). Is there any documentation on how to package with the config and sh files? I am trying to deploy Mac agent 2.10.0 using Jamf and have no idea where to begin. I deployed the agent to my Windows fleet using Intune with no issues.

Hello Robbat, this is a laaaaaaaate answer but commit in v2.6.1 changed the way username and password works : they need to be filled with the base64 encoded data (echo -n "user" | base64 and echo -n "password" | base64)

Input Devices not showing up for MacOS devices

The information about input devices connected to Macbooks is not being collected. These input devices include keyboards, mouses, usb hubs, and displays connected via usb-c (thunderbolt) ports. I have MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) and am using MacOS Big Sur (11.5.1). I am using ocs agent version 2.6.0.

I have looked at the agent code a bit and there is no Inputs.pm in MacOS folder in Backend. So does MacOS agent not support getting input devices information ?

Hi,

since i had the same problem these days i worked on a solution and fortunately found one.
My system configuration:

OS Server : Debian 10.12
OS Agent : MacOS Monterey, Big Sur, Catalina (seems it doesn't matter)
Agent Perl Version : 5.30 or 5.18 (seems it doesn't matter too)
Ocs Agent Version : Unix 2.9.3 MAC
Ocs Server Version : 2.10.0

The problem for me wasn't the modules.conf or their permissions although i had the same error message in the logs. But in my log file there was two lines below another error which leads me to the solution:

[Mon Aug 22 14:55:46 2022][debug] Compress::Zlib is not available! The data will be compressed with gzip instead but won't be accepted by server prior 1.02

The missing Perl module Compress::Zlib was the problem. But the installation wasn't even simple. I did the following steps to install it.

First install homebrew for macOS (line 1). After that install perlbrew (line 2), init perlbrew (line 3) and install cpanm (line 4). Finally install the Compress::Zlib module by using the cpanm command previously installed (line 5).

sudo curl -L https://install.perlbrew.pl | sudo bash
~/perl5/perlbrew/bin/perlbrew init

After that i started the agent and the software deployment worked. :-)

If you don't trust perlbrew you may choose another way. Install Xcode from apple developer website and use the command "cpan -i Module::Install Compress::Zlib" to install the module. But this way takes much more time and filespace since Xcode uses about 12 GB.

Hope, someone may use this information to use the software deployment feature of OCS inventory for macOS clients.

The answer does not address the question. This has nothing to do with finding the Operating System in the dashboard.

The issue is that OCS continues to report software that was previously removed. For example, install a piece of software and have the Mac check-in to the OCS server and report it's applications. Then, remove the application from the Mac and have it check in again. The result: the application is still reported as installed when it's not installed.

Where is OCS discovering that data if not directly from the Applications folder?

Is the Mac Agent Packager still supported?

I have got a problem on deploying Unix Agent 2.8.0 (Mac Version): After ocs client encoded content from Inventory, Chinese strings like software names became garbled.

I have tried to alter the code and tested on my mac, and find the cause issue below:

my $clean_content = encode('UTF-8', $content, Encode::FB_DEFAULT | Encode::LEAVE_SRC | Encode::FB_XMLCREF);

Chinese software name stings in "$clean_content" turned to be unnormal as UTF-8, but they are really good in "$content".

Thease are the alteration of code I have made, they are doing well so far:

No hardware specs for MacOS X computers

I'm having trouble with the MacOS X Agent. My hardware, network and devices specs are empty for all MacOS X computers. When I checked local log files it was all there in the XML file, but when I retrieve the XML file from the server, these specs aren't there. Can somebody help me with this problem?

Issue : Installing agent with OCS package works.

Log is created, config directories are created, config files are created and filled up, agent works.

/var/lib/ocsinventory-agent/https:__myDomain:myPort_ocsinventory/ocsinv.adm is created

Installing agent with custom package made with OCS Inventory NG Packager for MacOSX does not work.

Log is NOT created, config directories are created, config files are NOT created and NOT filled up, agent starts but does NOT work.

/var/lib/ocsinventory-agent/https:__myDomain:myPort_ocsinventory/ocsinv.adm

is NOT created,

/var/lib/ocsinventory-agent/https:__ocsinventory-ng_ocsinventory/ocsinv.adm

is created instead myDomain:myPort, after OCSNG.app is runned.

Environment :

MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

OCS Agent for Mac 2.6.0

I am pretty sure I made my custom.pkg as needed, because I already did it for Windows with command line.

All is working fine on Windows.

Custom.pkg config :

1) OCS package : path and file given (OCS Inventory Pkg Setup.pkg)

2) URL : https://myDomain:myPort | /ocsinventory

3) Log : default | /var/log/ocsng.log

4) Mode debug : checked

5) Télé-déploiement : checked

6) Mode Lazy : unchecked

7) Tag value : this is my tag

8) Certificat : /OCS_nePasSupprimer/cacert.pem (directory and file already exist)

9) Run each 5 hours

10) Run agent as daemon starts

11) Run daemon after installation (which never worked, as not, with the OCS package => agent never start by itself)

12) Export file to : the directory I choose.

13) File name : install-ocs | .pkg

One option exist for windows command line and does exist not within the packager maker is : ssl = 0 | 1

In the terminal :

1) sudo -i

2) Remove the installation made with OCS package :

rm -rf /Applications/OCSNG.app

rm -fr /etc/ocsinventory-agent/

rm -rf /var/lib/ocsinventory-agent/

rm /var/log/ocsng.log

3) Running my custom.pkg :

installer -pkg /path/with\ spaces/to/PKGfile/custom.pkg -verbose -target /

Verbose works and shows information.

/var/log/ocsng.log is not created

Config directories in /etc and / var are created but remane empty.

Config files in my custom.pkg have the good informations.

install.log is quite the same for the OCS.pkg and my custom.pkg.

I cannot find out what I did wrong ?

As it is MacOS, BSD based, a cousin of Linux (that I know well), I did not restart the computer yet, I cannot believe it would help.

Hello everyone!

I need help with uninstalling the agent 2.6 in a MacBook system “el capitan” version 10.11, I tried with de uninstall.sh script it’s uninstalled something but didn’t work completely.

For example, the Icon of the application is removed and other archives but not all although in the screen said that removed successfully.

When I try again to install the version 2.3 agent, the system tells me to exist a new version installed.

How I could eliminate all the program manually?

I installed version 2.6 of the client and had to install the Compress:Zlib perl package,
which was still missing. After that, the deployment worked on the system (OS 10.15.4)

Running mac agent 2.4.2 on a MAC OS X 10.14.5 machine. Server is 2.5 Docker Image. SSL is on and working, inventory sending over https. Certificate is in /etc/ocsinventory-client. Agent config does not have line pointing to certificate file. Certificate uses FQDN with altnames. Deployment works fine on windows. For mac deployment sends notification, but gets stuck on that. Sending command to homebrew to install application from cask. (works when doing locally on machine) Is deployment for mac just not working, or am i missing something?

Nous avons effectivement résolu le problème en installant la dernière version de l'agent Mac fourni directement par les développeurs : c'était un bug dans le développement de l'agent. Toutefois, nous avons eu droit à une pré-version avant sa sortie officielle et je ne sais pas si l'agent a été sorti depuis.

Si le problème persiste avec l'agent téléchargé, je vous envoie un agent mac corrigé ... Tenez-moi au courant.

On which distro is installed OCS server? Is the apache module "mod_perl" installed and activated on the server? Perhaps the firewall on the OCS server is activated and vorbides connections. Please verify.

By "Where can I find all the parameters for the ocsinventory-agent configuration file?", I wanted to know, in what documentation I can find the parameters for the MacOS agent. For the Windows Agent, there is an options.txt file with the executable.

I have the same option for my Linux client and my MacOS client, but I have the 500 SSL error for my MacOS client, I wanted to know if there is a parameter that can fix this.

Pour contacter deux serveurs avec l'agent unix, il n'existe pas d'autres solutions : OCS est fait pour fonctionner avec seulement un seul serveur. D'ailleurs il y a des risques en utilisant deux serveurs que les informations stockées dans l'agent soient modifiées et foutent la zone.

Concernant ton autre problème : l'agent en version 2.4 est compatible uniquement avec le serveur en version 2.4 ou supérieur. Donc il n'y a aucune chance que ça marche correctement. De plus le serveur en version 1.0.2 a plus de 10 ans maintenant, il est temps de mettre à jour.

Il est généralement inutile d'avoir deux serveurs : si c'est pour séparer des inventaires pour plusieurs services différents dans une entreprise par exemple, il suffit juste de faire une délégation de droit sur une partie du parc : ainsi, une personne peut devenir admin sur OCS (ou seulement visualiser) seulement une partie des machines mais pas du reste.

The "Active Status" of the package remains "Notified" for several days.

Agent for Windows can download the same package with same cacert.pem.

Both Agents for OS X and Windows can upload the inventory information to the server.

Just a quick question, just need to clarification.

I have a bought SSL certificate that I use on my server, works good.

When I setup the agent on a client, must I still add the PEM file? I was hoping not.

But I saw this in the client log:

Cannot establish communication : 500 SSL_ca_file /var/lib/ocsinventory-agent/https:__ocs1.mydomain.com_ocsinventory/cacert.pem does not exist

If I create the cacert.pem on the client the client shows up in ocs. I can get that I must add it if I have a self-signed cert, but is it the same when you use a bought one?

I have my OCS server set up. I installed the OCS agent on my Macs. Everything works fine if I launch the agent from the MacBook and type in the admin password. I would like it to run Automatically without requiring the password if that is possible.

I try to find the path /var/log/ocsng.log on the computer with Mac software to display the record that the agent "ocs inventory for mac" leaves but I can not find it. Additionally, when I try to report to the "Ocs Inventory for Mac" agent from my computer with Mac Operating System by https for my server does not work. Any suggestions?

I am installing the agent for a MAC machine by https, but it fails to send the inventory of the machine to the server which already has ssl certificate.

The agent is version 2.1.1 and in the OCS SERVER URL I put https: // myserver / ocsinventory. It only works for me when I use the http protocol.

Hello everyone

So here is my problem : I don't know how to create an offline inventory log file (.OCS)on a Mac OS X supported machine .

There is no option for offline installation (unlike the Windows Agent).

On this site I have found this thread(https://ask.ocsinventory-ng.org/2400/macos-x-agent-offline-installation?show=2400#q2400 )but the answer is not working (or lack more instruction on how or where to do it )

So any help would be gladly accepted

Hy, on many Apple Clients we have seen that the agent OCS-NG_unified_unix_agent_v2.1 reports old java versions - but on all client we have installed the new Version 8U131.

I search for Software like Java 8, and many Clients reports for example Java 8 Update 91 or Java 8 update 65 instead of Java 8 Build 131- but the new Software is definitly installed on all clients.

I am connected to the PC via the TeamViewer by unloading the installation file Ocsinventory_Agent_MacOSX-2.1.1.pkg, at the end of the installation gives an error, in the attachment. The program appears in the installed list, but does not send data to the server. Please help.
