currently I am facing a problem with the setup of SNMP for OCS Inventory.

Problem Inventory à SNMP à No devices in Table

Expected Result à Devices with the installed OCS Windows Agent scan the Network with IPDiscover for printer/ switches etc. With SNMP I can request information from these devices.

Results are shown under Inventory à SNMP

OCSReports 2.12.3

Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

PHP 8.3.6

Maria DB 10.11.8

Windows Agent 2.10.1.0

Webserver Apache

OCS Server is setup to scan snmp like this:

Configuration --> General
- --> SNMP
  - SNMP Enable/Disable the snmp service: ON
- --> Ipdiscover: ON
Manage --> Network Scan
- SNMP communities -->
  - Version: 2c
  - Name: public
Configuration --> SNMP
- --> Create type:
  - Name: test

( I also created a SNMP - community . I dont know what the purpose of them is.)

Now I should see results in the Inventory Table under SNMP but it is empty.

Why is it not working?

Hello,

When i'm attempting to create a new type SNMP in "Configuration > SNMP configuration > New Type"

However, i can delete a SNMP type, there is no error when i did this action.

Version OCS : 3.10.0-1160.114.2.el7.x86_64

OS : Linux x86_64 - centos 7

PHP : 7.4.33

Serveur web : Apache/2.4.6 (CentOS) OpenSSL/1.0.2k-fips PHP/7.4.33 mod_perl/2.0.11 Perl/v5.16.3

ServeurSQL : MariaDB Server version 5.5.68-MariaDB

I tried to solve my issue by consulting various logs and journalctl but nothing.

When i try snmpwalk to verify if it works, all is good.

i had follow this walkthrough to verify my parameters and is ok.

I don't understand why have i this issue.

Problem with teledeployment

I get some trouble to deploy Package.

When I use already .msi done, I have no problem to download and install the package but when I have to do the same with .exe, all change.

It download the package but it cannot install.

I try to build package with my own package built with MSI Wrapper ... Download OK / Install Failed

I try to build package via OCS with .exe (zip or not - I try both) ... Download OK . Install Failed

In argument, I left empty or I write /s or /s /norestart

If somebody can help me, I find nothing really helpful in internet and I'm new with this app.

Disable IPDiscover Globally for All Agents

Is there a way of disabling IPDiscover on all registered Agents? I Prefer running this manually on OCS Server itself using `ipdiscover-util.pl`. OCS normally Selects Most active agent to scan its networks, which is not so ideal in my usecase.

Hello,

I try to recover my printers and switchs with SNMP but he's not working. I use the command on my server Debian 11 where OCS Inventory Server is install :

ocsinventory-agent --debug --server http://@ip/ocsinventory --nosoftware

Before that, I've configure the SNMP in OCS

When I use this command, I get this error at almost the very end :

Cannot open pid file: Permission denied at /usr/local/share/perl/5.36.0/Ocsinventory/Agent/Modules/Download.pm line 848.

But the file has the permissions.

However the printers and switchs are recovered in IpDiscover

Problem with SNMP

Hello,

I need a clear guide to configure SNMP scan in my network. IP discover works without problem. But SNMP don't report anything.

The version of UNIX agent is 2.10.0.

From the host which the agent is installed, I can request into my network device with snmpget, and they response correctly. So, I understand that my SNMP communities configuration is OK.

Manage > Network scan > Administer subnet IP address: 192.168.1.0 Netmask: 255.255.255.0

Manage > Network scan > Manage SNMP communities > version:2c name:micomunidad

Configuration > SNMP configuration > Type configuration Type:minetwork Label:Device_Info 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0

All computers > 192.168.1.25 > Configuration > Edit > Network Scans >

IPDISCOVER: 192.168.1.0

SNMP_SWITCH: ON

SNMP_NETWORK: 192.168.1.0/24

I don't know where the problem is, but I have been 3 days with it and I don't progress.

Why are network printers not inventoried by OCS?

OCS does inventory normally, however it would never inventory network printers. Printers show up as not inventoried and we identify by leaving them as identified.
What is required for OCS to inventory network printers?

I installed OCS on ubuntu server 22.04 and the installation went without any error.
The problem I have is the following:
I have configured a network in the network scan menu to locate the devices on that network.
But it does not find anything the network is created well and when I go to the IPDISCOVER menu does not appear any equipment no data of anything.
I don't know if there is any configuration or installation missing.

I have new installed Debian 11 and OCS inventory 2.9.2 on this tutorial .

After install OCS Inventory Agent Version 2.9.0.0 or 2.9.1.0 and waiting 2 days IpDiscovery GUI is empty.

Next on windows Agent execute OCSInventory.exe /ipdisc="10.2.222.0" /debug=2

in agents logs

AGENT => IpDiscover required by /IPDISC on network 10.2.222.0

IPDISCOVER => Scanning to detect IPv4 enabled hosts for network <10.2.222.0> with <100> ms between

IPDISCOVER => Computer found @IPv4:10.2.222.111 @MAC:70:4D:7B:84:94:64 NAME:pugachev.samadm.local

and many other device

after waiting 2 hoyrs IpDiscovery GUI is empty.

ok, next on Server execute

ipdiscover-util.pl -network=10.2.222.0/24

after 1 or 2 hours in IpDiscovery GUI started showing up, but isn't not correctly

Unusual behavior when deploying to groups

Hello all,

I have an unusual behavior when deploying within groups.

When I want to do a deploy on a group, the package is not applied to all computers in the group, but only to 1 (I think the first computer in the group).
It also says there "1 computer successfully assigned".

This is the case with both static and dynamic groups.

If I select multiple computers in the search and deploy to the selection then it goes normally to all computers of the selection.
So the problem concerns only the groups.

Earlier it worked in any case already on this way of the group. It must now have been damaged by some update.

I can't find anything about this here in the forum.
Does anyone have any ideas about this or know how I can get to the bottom of the error.

I first though that "Activated packages" were the packages installed on the computer, and "history" the packages requested, but it doesn't seem to be only this

We are going to setup a Test OCS server to monitor our environment for a month or two. I noticed that Linux/Windows has a wide range of support, however being the network engineer that means little for me and I could not find specific documentation for my use case. Can someone point me to documentation on how Cisco,F5, and palo alto work with OCS? If you have any previous experience with those vendors and OCS, what is monitored by default? I think I would only care about OS version, hardware model/serial, device capabilities/desc.

I setted all parameters to use the SNMP scan, as defined in the documentation:

snmp_network = 10.24.0.0 (I'd like discovery all address with 255.255.0.0 mask)

Hello,

i'm new to OCS and i'm facing some troubles with the SNMP Inventory.

Using this guide http://wiki.ocsinventory-ng.org/06.Network-Discovery-with-OCS-Inventory-NG/Managing-and-using-SNMP-feature/ i can not understand how the scan works.

I have configured the snmp service, subnets and communities, all the perl and package prerequistes are met but i'm struggling with the 'create type' thing.

Where i can check what's happening?

IP Discover not working

Hi, I'm using OCS 2.8 and I'm facing problems with IP Discover feature on Centos 7.

After installing OCS, I've noticed a log error in error_log (apache):

ocsinventory-server: Bad setting. `IPDISCOVER_LINK_TAG_NETWORK` is not set. Default: `0

(Don't know if this is related to IPDiscover problem)

After waiting for 1 day, I've checked IPDiscover page and it not get any subnet from my network, then I've installed manually the ocs agent in my DNS/DHCP server and even so (after waiting 1 more day) it didn't work.

I've tried to run "ipdiscoverutil-pl" and it returned that the IPDiscover didn't find any other addresses in my subnet. Tried a lot of options using ipdiscoverutil and it returned "No unknown hosts of this network. Stop." (Even known hosts don't work).

Figured out that only IPDiscover is not working after try nmap and return all my network devices.

Nous venons de mettre en test la solution Ocsng mais nous rencontrons un problème sur la partie "télédéploiement"

En effet, les déploiements se passent bien, pas de souci coté utilisateurs. C'est sur l'interface web et l'accès aux statistiques que nous avons un souci.

Une fois que nous cliquons sur l'icone représentant un histogramme, nous obtenons le message suivant :

LES DONNEES N'EXISTENT PAS. LES HEURES DES ETATS NE SONT PAS PRESENTES EN BASE POUR CE PAQUET

L'un de vous peut-il nous venir en aide ?

i am newbie here and i have setup ocsinventory on centos 7 and i can access admin gui but issue is in ipDiscover section i can see only inventoried devices (on which agent has been installed) but i can't see any network connected device in non-inventoried section. i tried evry possible solution but no luck so can anyone please help me out.

Good morning everyone,

Just finished setting up OCS Server and, to start using it, installed OCS Agent on the same VM where the server is. I have seen the data from the agent shows up on OCS Server (VM info, networks, disks, software, etc) but unfortunately ip discovery does not work.

On Inventory/ipDiscover, there are only two hosts listed (which are actually the server - one line regarding the IPv4 interna156 server IP, and another line regarding the IPv6 server IP.

I have even tried executing the ip-discovery script manually, but it always turns up empty:

ipdiscover-util.pl -p=ocs -d=dbname -u=username -h=localhost -net=192.168.156.0 -auto

SNMP setup on OCS 2.5 Ubuntu 16.04

Hi,

I have set up OCS server 2.5 on a linux machine. For testing purpose i have installed OCS Windows agent version 2.4 on 2 PCs on same network. The server is able to take inventory of the machines on which the agent is installed.

Now i am trying to set up OCS SNMP feature to get the inventory of the Network printers and also the machines on the network on which agent is not installed.

but this did not work for me. No SNMP devices are shown.

Can anyone please help me out in setting up the SNMP feature???

Also all the network devices are listed under the Network>IpDiscover tab. But when checking Network>SNMP no data is available.

How to force IP Discovery?

I've installed the agent on the server itself. In the log it shows "IpDiscover ignored". The agent discovers only the itself. I have configured snmp on other servers in the same network (172.16.121.0/24) and SNMPWALK shows it can connect.

How do I force the Discovery?

In Network -> Administer I've added the Subnet (172.16.121.0/24) and Communities.

In Group name -> Select a parameter to be modified -> Network scan: I do not see the Network I added in the option. See picture one.

But in All Computers -> Computer -> Configuration -> EDIT -> Network scans -> IPDISCOVER -> I can see the Network and I've selected it. See picture two.

Note: I added the new test_group to the self discovered host (the ocs server) by All Computers -> Computer -> Configuration -> "Statically add this group".

Bonjour,

Après avoir mis à jour OCS Server en 2.6, l'agent sur ma machine en 2.6, GLPI, etc...

Je cherche à mettre à jour (à la demande de mon maitre de stage pour la société où je preste actuellement ^^), la version Agent 2.6 via le télédéploiement.

A cette fin, j'ai créé dans un premier temps un package à l'aide de OCS-Windows-Packager-2.6. Ce package contient la version 2.6 de l'agent et le certificat .pem de l'entreprise. Ce package est au format .zip, les machines tournant sous Win. J'ai bien créer le télédéploiement en précisant qu'il fallait lancer le fichier .exe. Pas d'avertissement ni d'action utilisateur demandés.

J'ai bien activé le paquet.

Je sélectionne la machine test sur laquelle j'ai préalablement installé l'agent v2.3 et qui est bien remontée sur notre serveur; et je lui attribue le paquet en question.

J'utilise la fonction manuelle en définissant une heure, un redémarrage et forcer le télédéploiement mais à l'heure voulue rien ne se passe. Le statut sur mon admin reste ATTENTE NOTIFICATION et j'ai eu tout au mieux après 30 min NOTIFIED.

J'ai reboot la machine cible mais rien n'y fait pas de MàJ vers la 2.6.

Le log de la machine cible me note que l'envoi d'inventaire classique est OK puis

Par la suite j'ai créé un paquet directement avec la création du télédéploiement en ne sélectionnant que le fichier .exe de l'agent 2.6 (zippé bien entendu), mais le problème reste le même pas de MàJ.

SNMP or IpDiscover not working with Fedora 30

I'm trying to get SNMP scanning to work in my lab environment.

I have set up Fedora 30 server following this guide

When I got the server installed, I configured apache to use SSL with this guide:

After configuring SSL I installed OCS agent to OCS server using this guide:

There were problems with some optional packages and those I managed to install manually, for example these packages

From this point on I was not 100% how the SSL needs to be configured. Anyway I got the agent communication to work using these guides.

So after following these guides I now have cacert.pem file in both of these locations. At first I had problems with SSL communication so I tried both of these guides. This is just for the background info if this has affect how the IpDiscover / SNMP is working.

Well that's for background story, as I said, the configuration seems to be working. I have tested inventory with Linux agent (the OCS server itself) and few Windows agents (Servers and Workstations). The IpDiscover seems to be working, at least there seems to be uninventoried IP's appearing there, but I guess that is done by Windows agent.

I tried to set up SNMP communities like this (the ocssnmp is configured to one of devices for testing purposes):

Is this the way it's supposed to be configured? If there SNMP community name is "default" in network devices?

Well anyway I can't get this working. At first I tried to Force IpDiscover to OCS server and let the server be for a day. Nothing appeared to IpDiscover or SNMP.

This is where I configured OCS server to do IpScanning: OCS Server Configuration -> IpDiscover behaviour -> Force IpDiscover (my network here 192.168.43.0)

After a day I set up few Windows clients to network and uninventoried ip's appeared to IpDiscover. So I guess this was done by Windows clients, not OCS Linux agent. I tried to run linux agent in debug mode and got this.

How to install ocsagent with a gpo logon script

Hi guys,

I need to inventory 1300 pc on my network! So I need to install by GPO. I read a lot of issues about but nothing is working, inclunde the psexec method. I have made a vbs script, that works, but the user need to press "next" button and it isn't good. Look to my simple batch script:

ECHO OFF
title *** INSTALACAO ***


START \\server\share\ocspackage.msi 


EXIT 

Then, I tryed a .vbs script, but the same thing happen without success:

Hi,

the IP Discover works great. I found all devices.

But how can I show the found devices in inventory tab?
When I choose "Alle Recher" I only see PCs with agent installed.

Hello,

we have some network devices where we have to use SNMPv3 to do the inventory. Is there any way to give the SNMPv3 credentials directly to the linux client where we scan from? Or any other posibility to get that running?

OS server and agent: Debian 9

OCS server: 2.6

OCS agent: 2.4.2

How to deploy ocs windows agent to computers

Dear Staff,

I'd like to know, if it would be possible to deploy the new ocs agent to the registered computers on ocs database trough ocs deployment feature,

I know that there is another way to do that trough Active Directory, but at the enterprise I work for, we don't have control of our A.D.

Scan SNMP Ocs inventory found nothing

Having already uploaded my workstations by the agent, I would like to upload my switches and printers with the SNMP options on ocs inventory.

I looked at the doc and some tuto I added the IP range to activate the SNMP and configure the settings on the web interface but nothing is displayed. And there's a connection to an agent for SNMP?

If you can help me, it would be nice

SNMP Scan with OCS Windows Agent 2.4

we are using OCS Inventory Server 2.5 and Windows Agent 2.4...everything works fine instead of the SNMP Scan function. It won't start.

Is it still necessary to use https ?? Cause this is the only thing we don't activate.
