Hello,

currently I am facing a problem with the setup of SNMP for OCS Inventory.

Problem Inventory à SNMP à No devices in Table

Expected Result à Devices with the installed OCS Windows Agent scan the Network with IPDiscover for printer/ switches etc. With SNMP I can request information from these devices.

Results are shown under Inventory à SNMP

OCSReports 2.12.3

Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS

PHP 8.3.6

Maria DB 10.11.8

Windows Agent 2.10.1.0

Webserver Apache

OCS Server is setup to scan snmp like this:

Configuration --> General
- --> SNMP
  - SNMP Enable/Disable the snmp service: ON
- --> Ipdiscover: ON
Manage --> Network Scan
- SNMP communities -->
  - Version: 2c
  - Name: public
Configuration --> SNMP
- --> Create type:
  - Name: test
  - OID Value: 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1
  - Value:
- --> Create label:
  - Name: testdescription
- --> Type configuration
  - Type: test
  - Label: testdescription
  - OID: 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1
  - Use for reconciliation: yes
  - Use for IP discover: yes

( I also created a SNMP - community . I dont know what the purpose of them is.)

Now I should see results in the Inventory Table under SNMP but it is empty.

Why is it not working?

Hello,

When i'm attempting to create a new type SNMP in "Configuration > SNMP configuration > New Type"

However, i can delete a SNMP type, there is no error when i did this action.

Version OCS : 3.10.0-1160.114.2.el7.x86_64

OS : Linux x86_64 - centos 7

PHP : 7.4.33

Serveur web : Apache/2.4.6 (CentOS) OpenSSL/1.0.2k-fips PHP/7.4.33 mod_perl/2.0.11 Perl/v5.16.3

ServeurSQL : MariaDB Server version 5.5.68-MariaDB

I tried to solve my issue by consulting various logs and journalctl but nothing.

When i try snmpwalk to verify if it works, all is good.

i had follow this walkthrough to verify my parameters and is ok.

I don't understand why have i this issue.

SNMP isn't working

Hello,

I try to recover my printers and switchs with SNMP but he's not working. I use the command on my server Debian 11 where OCS Inventory Server is install :

ocsinventory-agent --debug --server http://@ip/ocsinventory --nosoftware

Before that, I've configure the SNMP in OCS

When I use this command, I get this error at almost the very end :

Cannot open pid file: Permission denied at /usr/local/share/perl/5.36.0/Ocsinventory/Agent/Modules/Download.pm line 848.

But the file has the permissions.

However the printers and switchs are recovered in IpDiscover

Problem with SNMP

Hello,

I need a clear guide to configure SNMP scan in my network. IP discover works without problem. But SNMP don't report anything.

The version of UNIX agent is 2.10.0.

From the host which the agent is installed, I can request into my network device with snmpget, and they response correctly. So, I understand that my SNMP communities configuration is OK.

Manage > Network scan > Administer subnet IP address: 192.168.1.0 Netmask: 255.255.255.0

Manage > Network scan > Manage SNMP communities > version:2c name:micomunidad

Configuration > SNMP configuration > Type configuration Type:minetwork Label:Device_Info 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0

All computers > 192.168.1.25 > Configuration > Edit > Network Scans >

IPDISCOVER: 192.168.1.0

SNMP_SWITCH: ON

SNMP_NETWORK: 192.168.1.0/24

I don't know where the problem is, but I have been 3 days with it and I don't progress.

Why are network printers not inventoried by OCS?

OCS does inventory normally, however it would never inventory network printers. Printers show up as not inventoried and we identify by leaving them as identified.
What is required for OCS to inventory network printers?

Existe algun agente para escanear Ubiquiti, Unifi, Cisco o entre otros ?

tengo el mib de Unifi pero igual no veo que toma el scanner

Monitoring Network equipment

Hello,

We are going to setup a Test OCS server to monitor our environment for a month or two. I noticed that Linux/Windows has a wide range of support, however being the network engineer that means little for me and I could not find specific documentation for my use case. Can someone point me to documentation on how Cisco,F5, and palo alto work with OCS? If you have any previous experience with those vendors and OCS, what is monitored by default? I think I would only care about OS version, hardware model/serial, device capabilities/desc.

I'm using teh OCS Inventory version 2.8.0

I setted all parameters to use the SNMP scan, as defined in the documentation:

snmp_switch = on
snmp_network = 10.24.0.0 (I'd like discovery all address with 255.255.0.0 mask)

This server is my OCS HTTP server. But, when I perform the "ocsinventory-agent --debug", the process of "snmpscan" does not start:

i'm new to OCS and i'm facing some troubles with the SNMP Inventory.

Using this guide http://wiki.ocsinventory-ng.org/06.Network-Discovery-with-OCS-Inventory-NG/Managing-and-using-SNMP-feature/ i can not understand how the scan works.

I have configured the snmp service, subnets and communities, all the perl and package prerequistes are met but i'm struggling with the 'create type' thing.

Where i can check what's happening?

Hi,

I have set up OCS server 2.5 on a linux machine. For testing purpose i have installed OCS Windows agent version 2.4 on 2 PCs on same network. The server is able to take inventory of the machines on which the agent is installed.

Now i am trying to set up OCS SNMP feature to get the inventory of the Network printers and also the machines on the network on which agent is not installed.

but this did not work for me. No SNMP devices are shown.

Can anyone please help me out in setting up the SNMP feature???

I'm trying to get SNMP scanning to work in my lab environment.

I have set up Fedora 30 server following this guide

When I got the server installed, I configured apache to use SSL with this guide:

After configuring SSL I installed OCS agent to OCS server using this guide:

There were problems with some optional packages and those I managed to install manually, for example these packages

monitor-edid, samba

From this point on I was not 100% how the SSL needs to be configured. Anyway I got the agent communication to work using these guides.

So after following these guides I now have cacert.pem file in both of these locations. At first I had problems with SSL communication so I tried both of these guides. This is just for the background info if this has affect how the IpDiscover / SNMP is working.

Well that's for background story, as I said, the configuration seems to be working. I have tested inventory with Linux agent (the OCS server itself) and few Windows agents (Servers and Workstations). The IpDiscover seems to be working, at least there seems to be uninventoried IP's appearing there, but I guess that is done by Windows agent.

I tried to set up SNMP communities like this (the ocssnmp is configured to one of devices for testing purposes):

Is this the way it's supposed to be configured? If there SNMP community name is "default" in network devices?

Well anyway I can't get this working. At first I tried to Force IpDiscover to OCS server and let the server be for a day. Nothing appeared to IpDiscover or SNMP.

This is where I configured OCS server to do IpScanning: OCS Server Configuration -> IpDiscover behaviour -> Force IpDiscover (my network here 192.168.43.0)

After a day I set up few Windows clients to network and uninventoried ip's appeared to IpDiscover. So I guess this was done by Windows clients, not OCS Linux agent. I tried to run linux agent in debug mode and got this.

Having already uploaded my workstations by the agent, I would like to upload my switches and printers with the SNMP options on ocs inventory.

I looked at the doc and some tuto I added the IP range to activate the SNMP and configure the settings on the web interface but nothing is displayed. And there's a connection to an agent for SNMP?

Is it still necessary to use https ?? Cause this is the only thing we don't activate.

currently i am setting up OCS NG inventory to use the inventorized Data in a CMDB.

Client version: 2.3

Server (Software):

PHP-Version : 5.6.33
Webserver : Apache/2.4.18 (Ubuntu)
Datenbank-Server : (Ubuntu) version 5.7.21-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
Version OCSReports: 2.4.1

So far everything worked really smooth and without many complications. But now i am facing an issue with the SNMP Feature which i cannot find a solution for - as soon as i configure the Networks Scans parameter SNMP_NETWORK to any value (e.g. 192.30.10.0, 192.30.20.0)

i can see the following debug on clientside after the hostinventorization is completed:

as soon as i leave the SNMP_NETWORK field empty, the default scan is taking part and the Hosts Network (e.g. 192.30.20.0 is scanned from host 192.30.20.xx)

since i can not / dont want to provide an extra machine just for the SNMP scans in every Network, i am looking for a solution here.

The current configuration:

OCS Server:
-Computer configuration: Network scans

IPDISCOVER: Standard state

SNMP_SWITCH: ON

SNMPwalk to the firewall/Gateway is delivering lots of information but the OCS agent just doesnt connect (or at least it is not even trying to connect) to the Gateway (x.x.x.1) Address...? This might be related...?

Anybody can lead me on the right path? :)

I'm using inventory with Agent but also with SNMP scan.
Everything is working, I get my SNMP devices on "Network - SNMP", but how can I add them to the global inventory tab menu "all computer".

Also even if SNMP is getting software informations on computers, if I use the "Inventory" - "All Software" or "software search", it don't display SNMP scanned software.

Hello!

After maybe 15 years, I started using OCS again and I'm thrilled to have it almost in production! I was able to install the server, windows agents (through group policy, extra challenge to generate the MSI package!) and the Linux agents for my servers.

Only piece that is missing is that I cannot figure out how to make the SNMP portion work for my printers/switches.

Anybody that can give me a hint / link so I can check how to make this work?

Hi,

I'm trying to inventorize 3 ESX-hosts in our network. I enabled SNMP on the ESX-hosts using console and enabled it in OCS-inventory (Config - Config - Snmp). In Network(s) - Administer I've added the right subnets and added public in the SNMP communities.

IpDiscover found 2 regular computers but not the ESX-hosts. Also Network(s) - Snmp does not shows anything.

How can I resolve this, or what am I doing wrong?

I have a problem with SNMP function and I would need help to know if there's a cert problem or a server installation mistake. I read that we need to configure ocsinventory-agent.cfg this way to make SNMP function works:

Before all, thanks for your great job developing such a great tool as a OCS inventory.

We are a big company with a huge network divided in a multiple subnets, and we've just installed the VMDK OCS-NG-Server-2.0.5-CentOS-6.2-64bits.tar version and a client Ocsinventory-Unix-Agent-2.0.5.tar to make some tests and everything is fine except two important points.

1 . The SNMP scan does'nt works. We have configured well all the parameters, we are reaching the machines ( proving it due "snmpwalk -v 1 -c XXXX 10.194.97.41" and we have feedback. We've checked our firewall parameters and they're right as well. Aditionally, we've activated the SNMP function in /etc/ocsinventory/modules.conf . Here's the ocsinventory-agent debug:

How to condifigure the frecuency of snmp scan

I have configured one server with the option SNMP enabled.
With the configuration by default, it scans and send the information to the management server every hour and this provoque a big load for several devices that the server scans.
It would be possible to change this configuration and change the frequency of scans ones a day insteado of every hours? I don't see this option in the SNMP configuration.

I have ocsinventory-server 2.1.2 on Ubuntu 14.04.01 LTS and have different machine for agent but OS is same.

I have different and complecated network subnet like 255.255.252.0 255.255.255.192 like this.

when i am scanning the network by giving command "sudo ocsinventory-agent --debug" it is not scanning snmp devices.

Will snmp scan only simple network like 192.168.1.0/24?

Will snmp scan 192.168.52.0-192.168.255.255/22?

My network has vlan configured.

I'm using Unix-Agent-2.1.1 and successfully getting back some snmp results to my OCS server. However, most of my snmp results are using the Default MIB module. I'd like to get additional information, such as serial numbers or bios info from the snmp scans. If I know the specific make and model, is it possible to get that by adding custom MIB info in the lib/Ocsinventory/Agent/Modules/Snmp or in the inventoryserver/snmp/mibs/local directories? Are there any examples of this available?

Je viens vers vous après avoir trifouillé le web (je l'ai surement mal fait car il doit bien y avoir la réponse quelque part).

J'ai mis en place une architecture Maitre-Esclave et la fonctionnalité SNMP.

Lorsque l'agent Linux fait son scan SNMP et le remonte au serveur Esclave, j'ai les resultats SNMP. Mais lorsque le serveur Esclave remonte les données au serveur Maitre, il ne transmet pas ces informations SNMP remontés.

Est-ce que je doit configurer certaines options ou autres?

When execute the agent with --debug i obtain:

[error] Cannot establish communication : 500 Can't connect to $IP_OCS-SERVER:443 (certificate verify failed)

Then execute the agent adding --SSL=0 and this show in the log snmp scanning but i can't see any snmp device discovered in ocs console. But actually in the subnet of the agent isn't any network device that i want to scan. Then que question is:

¿How can i do SNMP scan a subnet with an agent in other subnet?

Can you link me toward some documentation or, if it's simple, give me a quick handout how to get such info regarding printers.

Let's assume that it has SNMP v2 ports opened.
