Different accountinfo behavior on Win11 builds

Hello,

I have a question regarding duplicate detection and archived devices in OCS Inventory.

Environment:

OCS Agent version: 2.4.0.0
OCS Server version: Unknown

Here is the situation:

A computer is archived from "All Computers".
Windows 11 is clean-installed.
The OCS agent is reinstalled on the same machine.

However, the behavior differs depending on the Windows build version.

For PCs with OS version "10.0.26200":

A completely new inventory entry is created in "All Computers".
Information such as last seen time, computer name, user, and operating system is newly generated.
User-defined account information (such as User, Department, Asset Number, TAG) is NOT inherited from the old archived record.

For PCs with OS version "10.0.26100":

The normal inventory information (last seen time, computer name, user, OS, etc.) does NOT inherit the previous data.
However, user-defined account information IS inherited from the old archived record.

I compared the hardware information, network information, and management data between the two systems, but I could not find any meaningful differences other than the Windows build version.

I found documentation related to:

"Managing duplicates computers"
"AUTO_DUPLICATE_LVL"

The documentation says that OCS can detect reinstalled or renamed computers automatically, and duplicate detection depends on matching values.

However, I am not sure whether this behavior is actually related to duplicate detection, because only the user-defined account information is inherited while the normal inventory information is not.

My questions are:

Could there be any known reason why this different behavior occurs depending on the Windows build version (10.0.26200 vs 10.0.26100)?
Is there any internal logic related to duplicate detection, archived devices, or accountinfo inheritance that could explain this behavior?
Could this behavior be related to hardware UUID, SID, registry values, or another identifier used internally by OCS Inventory?

I'm a new OCS user. I'm looking for information on how to change the data sent by the OCSInventory Agent for Windows to the server. Specifically, I'm looking for information on changing the SSN value. I tried to do this through the Plugin directory and the PS script, defining only one value for the BIOS group. This resulted in no values being sent for this group; its data is blank.

Is it possible to modify the values read by the Agent before sending them to the server? If so, how should I do this correctly?

Cela fait longtemps que je n'ai pas utilisé OCS pour faire un déploiement de logiciel.
Je pense que ça date d'avant notre dernière mise à jour ...
Server : 2.12.3
Client : 2.8

Voici le souci :
J'ai un script, qui fonctionnait sans problème avant.
Première étape : je kill un process de Windows.
Deuxième étape : j'installe le logiciel voulu.

J'ai le code erreur exit_code_1
Il plante au moment de tuer le process (le logiciel en cours d'utilisation, dans mon exemple notepad++).

Voici mon script, en fichier .bat (script très simple...)

OCS Inventory SNMP return nothing

I have OCS Inventory with ARP enabled, and it works great. However, I’m trying to enable SNMP, and although everything seems configured correctly, it doesn’t work.

I tried running the agent locally with on a debian 12:

ocsinventory-agent --local=/tmp/

…but the result is the same: ARP works, but SNMP finds 0 OID.

Here is an example of the log:

Deployment Failed / Success

When deploying the OCS agent (Tool Version 2.3.0.0), I receive a ‘failed’ error. In the deployment tools log, an error is detected: 'Host <PC323> *** ERROR *** Unable to open or read setup log file on remote host: The system cannot find the file specified.' However, the OCS-Windows-Agent-Setup-x86.log log says ‘SUCCESS: OCS Inventory NG Agent 2.8.0.0 successfully installed on 09/26/2025 at 9:08:03 ;-)’. I can access \\PC323\C$\ProgramData from the server. PSEXEC also works correctly since the installation was done via PSEXEC. This is annoying from a management perspective. I am never sure that the agent has been installed... Any ideas? Thanks

Thanks for your extensive and great work with OCS Inventory.

This is our current setup:
Version OCSReports: 2.7 (Running on Debian GNU/Linux server)
OCS Inventory NG android Agent version 2.7

We are using in a production server since some time without problems. We have windows, linux and macOS agents, and several standard and custom plugins deployed working fine.

Now we're trying to extend the use to android phones also. We've tested the agent, it's working fine, but we would like to obtain some other information (for example the lastpublicip plugin)...I can't find information regarding the plugins deployment for android. Maybe we can just run some scripts in Android and extract the contents or just upload the results...
Could you please tell me if that's possible and how to advance on that?
We're looking for a setup for standard users (no adb, termux, or root access), but if requires something else we could evalute it of course.

According to the documentation, package deployment and script execution have only been tested with the OCS Inventory NG Agent for Windows service. It also states that using the login script method may cause issues, such as blocking due to background downloads and lack of administrative privileges.

Given this limitation for Windows clients, I would like to ask:

Is the package deployment and script execution feature fully supported and functional on Linux clients? Are there any known issues or special considerations when using this feature on Linux systems?

I installed the "PowershellVersion" one but when i try to do an inventory, nothing get added to the database (on the powershellversion table

We are facing some difficuties in sending the inventory to server. It´s delaying too much (about 1 hours) to send and view it on the ocs report.We tried to force the manualy inventory however it´s insisting in not apear on the portal. Do you happen to know if there are any kind of configuration to set ? Following below is the log information.

I packaged the PKG but when I transfer it in intune it says Value can't be empty

When checking signature with the Terminal (pkgutil --check-signature) : no signature

Problem to polling SNMP cisco devices

Hello,

We have a OCS in version 2.12 installed on redhat 8.10.

I want to bring up Cisco network equipment in OCS.

I have enabled SNMP, defined my community and created a network scan for the scan.

But, nothing comes up. No equipment and no information.

I also tried to enable SNMP traps on the Cisco side, but nothing works, although the traps are sent to the server. I followed the procedure for setting up the forum but I can't do it.

Also, at the network level, I don't see the scan launching automatically.

I have defined the OCS server as the SNMP scan source.

Can I have some help please?

Lors d'un deploiement OCS en mode script (en mode ligne commande ça marche):
Malgré de nombreuses tentatives, je ne parviens à passer l'étape où le client décompresse l'archive (où se trouve le script)

Hi everyone, how’s it going?

I recently set up an OCS Inventory server on a Debian system and successfully completed the initial setup at (http://192.168.10.199/ocsreports/). After that, I installed the agent on my personal Windows computer, configured the same address during the setup, and started the service. However, I still can't see my machine in the OCS web panel. Does anyone know what might be going on? I've opened the necessary ports on the firewall and I believe everything is configured correctly.

Issues with OCS Inventory Agent on CentOS 7

My OCS Server is on Ubuntu 22, and my OCS Agents are installed on several machines, including Ubuntu 22, ZorinOS 15, and CentOS 7. My inventory got information about all the machines, except for the CentOS 7 machines. It's like the agent is not communicating with the server.

I’ve checked the agent configuration, here's my ocsinventory-agent.cfg on CentOS: (NOT WORKING)

Bonjour, je ne sais pas si les choses ont évolué, mais je suis avec la version 2.11.1 des agents et il arrive souvent que nous n'ayons pas l'utilisateur connecté dans les informations remontées. Particulièrement lorsqu'un ordinateur a été redémarré et qu'aucune session n'est ouverte. J'en déduis que c'est parce que l'agent roule avec le compte système et que lorsqu'il récolte l'inventaire aucune session n'est ouverte.

Ne serait-il pas possible de collecter le nom de la dernière session qui a été ouverte tout simplement?

I am looking for an Agent that will work with Mac OS 15.0 Sequoia. This does work if doing the upgrade from a previous version of mac os. But not if a new OS install or new computer that comes in with Mac OS 15.0 Sequoia

Prevent OcsService.exe file from disappearing

Hi,

on a growing number of our machines, the agent stops sending the inventory to the server because at some point the OCS Service can't be launched anymore after the file OCSService.exe disappears for some mysterious reason.

The installation is fine at this point because I can just copy the missing file back and it can be restarted again.

For more context, we're running the v2.10.1 agent and the v2.12.1 server and the issue happens to machines that are not always on our LAN (WFH laptops, etc.) and hence often they will not be able to contact the OCS server.

So is there a way to prevent the OCSService from disappearing in this context?
And what's a best practice to do the inventory of remote machines with OCS?

Hey, I'm currently doing an internship and my job is to deploy ocs inventory on the network. My ocs 2.12.1 server is on debian 12. I've installed an agent 2.10.1.0 manually on a windows machine to check that everything was working, so far no problem. Now I'm getting down to the serious business of deploying my agent on the network using the agent deployment tool. I added psexec, putty and pscp in the options, then I added the range of ip addresses on which I want to deploy my agents (I don't use the active directory, because some computers on the network aren't connected to the domain), then I followed the official documentation for the rest as well as several different tutorials and here I am at the moment of deploying by pressing start and that's when the problems start.

Here are the 2 error messages I may encounter:

Host <172.16.142.10> *** ERROR *** Connecting remote host: The network path was not found.

Host <172.16.142.11> *** ERROR *** Remote host does not accept connections

I have all admin right, firewall was check thats not seem to be an issue. Im on this for 2 days actualy im stuck.

Server and Agent cant communicate HTTP 403

Hi everyone,

I am having an issue when sending the agent's info on the server. I get an http 403 error when trying to access to the http://myServerIp/ocsinventory.

When installing the agent and choosing the address, I am making sure it is in the correct way (aka http://myServerIp/ocsinventory)

However the server can't receive the agent's info.

The OcsReports panel seems to be installed proprely and correctly. I have fully access to http://myServerIp/ocsreports.

I put the correct database name, username and password in the configuration files.

After checking the agent's logs, i can see that there is an http error 403, http://myServerIP/ocsinventory access being forbidden.

I have tried searching on the internet but i haven't found any solution, and I have reinstalled a second time to server to make sure I installed the server correctly.

Here's a list of what ive tried :

- Updated my system

- Install php extensions and packages required by the server

- Install and enable perl modules

- Create a database

- Download, configurate the setup.sh (with correct db user and db password) and install

- Configurate (put the correct db name, db user and db password) and enable the 3 .conf files
- Change the ownership of the ocsinventory-reports directory to www-data user, and change the permission to 755

- And finally finishing the installation on http://MyServerIp/ocsreports, and delete the installer.

macOS Packager?

Hi,

It appears the macOS packager is no longer available for download and has been replaced with (OCSNG-Unix-Packager-1.0). Is there any documentation on how to package with the config and sh files? I am trying to deploy Mac agent 2.10.0 using Jamf and have no idea where to begin. I deployed the agent to my Windows fleet using Intune with no issues.

If agent is updated earlier than the server ... ?

One more beginner question ... I'm quite new in the OCS world so please let me ask this simple (?) question. A first quick forum search didn't led me to the answer, but maybe you know it or know where I can find it:

I'm working on setting up a first OCS inventory for our machines. For this task I installed the agent from the official repo as told at wiki.ocsinventory-ng.org what worked quite well.

But now I'm asking myself what may happen if the agent should get updated as part of a regular update cycle while the server may not be updated, too. Will the agent still be able to communicate with the server. Would be really good to know, at least for minor patches. (I assume it's not possible to be sure about this for major releases, but that's no daily business on the other hand.)

Is it possible to establish the communication between OCS server and the client's agent in a server initiated way? We have a few machines running in the www for which it is much easier to let the server connect to them instead of making the server reachable for their agents.

J'ai une petite question concernant la remontée d'inventaire d'OCS Inventory.
En effet, j'ai configuré mon serveur OCS qui est fonctionnel. J'ai donc effectué le déploiement de l'agent OCS Windows sur les postes de mon parc informatique.
Les machines remontent correctement sur le serveur mais lorsque les machines sont éteintes et redémarrées, l'inventaire ne se refait pas.
Il faut que je relance à la main l'agent avec la configuration qu'il faut.
Sauriez vous m'aider a ce sujet pour que je n'ai pas a devoir le refaire manuellement ?

J'ai défini certains éléments dans la configuration du côté serveur.
On peut même voir dans la fiche d'inventaire des ordinateurs les éléments en question.

Ex: no d'inventaire, type d'utilisation etc.

Est-ce qu'il y a moyen avec l'agent lors de la première communication de celui-ci. Qu'il demande à l'utilisateur sur le poste de travail de répondre à ces questions?

Recently I become aware of a failure within OCS Agent on OSX Sonoma 14.4

It happens that all of the sudden, the agent stops to communicate and there is no information to understand the problem on logs.
I was able to find a more detailed output from the error trying to execute directly the binary in /Applications/OCSNG.app/Content/Resources, which I post below:
