Buidling MacOS packages for the agent is not a trivial task. The package date is from year 24' Wondering if there is an updated package for MacOS that is compatible with Tahoe?

We try to launch a linux agent. We have follow this doc :

We have installed it on a Debian 13 :

We have Windows Agent (almost 250 PC) which are working like a charm. So we think it's not a server problem.

OCS Inventory SNMP return nothing

I have OCS Inventory with ARP enabled, and it works great. However, I’m trying to enable SNMP, and although everything seems configured correctly, it doesn’t work.

I tried running the agent locally with on a debian 12:

ocsinventory-agent --local=/tmp/

…but the result is the same: ARP works, but SNMP finds 0 OID.

Here is an example of the log:

Deployment and Execution on Linux Clients

Hello,

According to the documentation, package deployment and script execution have only been tested with the OCS Inventory NG Agent for Windows service. It also states that using the login script method may cause issues, such as blocking due to background downloads and lack of administrative privileges.

Given this limitation for Windows clients, I would like to ask:

Is the package deployment and script execution feature fully supported and functional on Linux clients? Are there any known issues or special considerations when using this feature on Linux systems?

I appreciate your attention. I’m new to OCS Inventory and have been trying
 to install the agents on Red Hat 8 and 9, as well as Fedora and Ubuntu 24
 Server. However, I’m encountering the same issue on all distributions: the
 service does not start. I don’t know how to fix this error.

On my linux box I have an https_proxy set in my environnement. By defaut ocsinventory uses it. How to disable usage of proxy in the ocs agent ? Is there a no proxy option ?

Le client OCS installé est Ocsinventory unified agent for unix (2.10.0)
Lors d'un deploiement OCS en mode script (en mode ligne commande ça marche):
Malgré de nombreuses tentatives, je ne parviens à passer l'étape où le client décompresse l'archive (où se trouve le script)
voici les détails de mon fichier de log:

Issues with OCS Inventory Agent on CentOS 7

My OCS Server is on Ubuntu 22, and my OCS Agents are installed on several machines, including Ubuntu 22, ZorinOS 15, and CentOS 7. My inventory got information about all the machines, except for the CentOS 7 machines. It's like the agent is not communicating with the server.

I’ve checked the agent configuration, here's my ocsinventory-agent.cfg on CentOS: (NOT WORKING)

# OCS Inventory "Unix Unified Agent" Configuration File

One more beginner question ... I'm quite new in the OCS world so please let me ask this simple (?) question. A first quick forum search didn't led me to the answer, but maybe you know it or know where I can find it:

I'm working on setting up a first OCS inventory for our machines. For this task I installed the agent from the official repo as told at wiki.ocsinventory-ng.org what worked quite well.

But now I'm asking myself what may happen if the agent should get updated as part of a regular update cycle while the server may not be updated, too. Will the agent still be able to communicate with the server. Would be really good to know, at least for minor patches. (I assume it's not possible to be sure about this for major releases, but that's no daily business on the other hand.)

Is it possible to establish the communication between OCS server and the client's agent in a server initiated way? We have a few machines running in the www for which it is much easier to let the server connect to them instead of making the server reachable for their agents.

J'ai défini certains éléments dans la configuration du côté serveur.
On peut même voir dans la fiche d'inventaire des ordinateurs les éléments en question.

Ex: no d'inventaire, type d'utilisation etc.

Est-ce qu'il y a moyen avec l'agent lors de la première communication de celui-ci. Qu'il demande à l'utilisateur sur le poste de travail de répondre à ces questions?

Is it possibile to accelerate the scanning?

Erreur remontée manuelle machine Debian 11

Une des machines de notre parc ne remonte plus ses informations (Debian 11.8). Elle le faisait et maintenant elle ne remonte plus son inventaire mais elle contacte quand même le serveur. Elle était en version OCS-NG_unified_unix_agent_v2.8.0 quand c'est arrivé, je l'ai passé en version 2.10.0 mais ca n'a pas corrigé le problème. Quand je lance une remontée manuelle j'ai cette erreur :

We are currently upgrading our OCS Inventory Server from 2.11.1 to 2.12.1, with the OCS Agent Unix 2.10.0.

After upgrading, we noticed that the agent stopped sending inventories to the server, so we tried to troubleshoot by checking the logs and the configuration file :

The results of a tcpdump command shows an "Encrypted Alert" error

192.168.5.67 = remote host

192.168.5.228 = ocs server

Note that the Ocs agents used to send inventories properly to Ocs Server before we upgraded, and the content of the configuration files attached are the exact same in 2.11.1 and 2.12.1 version.

We are also getting a "500 Internal Server" that we didn't used to get even though we are still using the same certificate.

Is there anything missing for the upgrade to be successfull ?

Do we need to upgrade some files in order to make a successfull upgrade ?

Hi. I have a Linux Debian OCS server and an OCS agent installed. I'm testing IPDiscovery, so I haven't installed the agents on other machines. From the documentation, I understood that machines with agents look for other devices and machines on the network that do not have agents. However, in the ocs web interface, nothing is listed.

When I run "ipdiscover-util.pl", some machines are listed as "Non-inventoried". And one was listed on "IpDiscover". Look:

How do I make IPDiscover work automatically? What is the difference between the Non-inventoried and IPDiscover columns?

With the agent in the current version 2.10 on an AIX 7.3. I still have the following 2 problems:
1.) the following warning messages appear during execution:
0516-1396 : The physical volume hdisk1, was not found in the
system database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk0 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk1 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk2 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk3 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk4 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
The named command lslv is referenced in the LVM.pm module in the agent, but I was unable to find the reason for the warning.
2) Standalone.sh in the tools of the agent does not work for AIX and SLES. Because of this I have tried the pp of PAR::Packer to generate a binary agen. this worked well on SLES15 but does not on AIX.
The command
pp -C -o ocsinventory-agent.bin -x ocsinventory-agent
produces this error message:
SYSTEM ERROR in executing ocsinventory-agent : 256 at /opt/freeware/share/perl5/site_perl/Module/ScanDeps.pm line 1601.

Are there any Ideas to fix one or both of my problems?

I use the Porteus Kiosk distribution and in the system information I have:

And I would like the correct system version to appear in the inventory:

How is this information extracted from the system? Maybe it would be possible to change it with a command alias, script, etc.?

We have the old 2.3 agent due to dependencies in new versions and problems with creating xzm packages. Maybe someone has created such a package (with dependent packages) in a newer version?

Can't get SNMP checks working

i'm doing my very best for days to get SNMP-Scan feature working properly, but I'm now at a point where I really can't go ahead.

I'm running Unix-Agent 2.10.0 on Debian (installed from packages). Inventory and IP-discovery works great. The SNMP checks are activated and the module is loaded properly. Ocsinventory is also telling me to do SNMP-scans, but actually it does nothing

10.0.10.11 and 10.0.10.12 are definitely SNMP-devices which can be queried from the machine using snmpwalk.

I verified by using tcpdump on the machine that are are no snmp-calls done to the Hosts at all.

VMs inventorized as type Other

Hi, I have quite wierd issue, my ocs inventory agent for unix is for some odd reason inventorizing VMs (vsphere) as type "Other", rather than "Server" which obviously make a bit of mess in glpi and overall categorization of assets. I was wondering, is there some way to force the unix agents that all collected machines are Server, perhaps within ocsinventory-agent.conf? I wasnt able to set it up with the rules in glpi, thats why im asking here.
Appreciate any tip.

Removed packages still showing up in inventory

Debian packages that have been removed (rc) still show up in inventory.

Running strace on the ocsinventory-agent it shows that the software inventory collection is done using the command stat (e.g. "stat("/var/lib/dpkg/info/exim4-base.list", {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=155, ...}) = 0" ) which catches software installed as well as removed, but not purged from a system.

I consider this a bug as it shouldn't inventory removed packages.

Can the agent for Linux still be installed?

J'ai installé l'agent sur des machines Red Hat 8 et Debian 11. Pas de problèmes sur Debian. Malheureusement mes machines Red Hat ne remonte pas tous les jours automatiquement leur inventaire. Cela fonctionne seulement manuellement avec la commande sudo ocsinventory-agent. Comment fait-on pour avoir une remontée quotidienne automatique ?

Pour l'installation de l'agent sur Red Hat, je copie le certificat SSL de mon CA sur ma machine virtuelle avec WinSCP et ensuite je fais les commandes ci-après :

nous effectuons nos installations automatisés de postes sous Ubuntu via un serveur PXE et j'aimerai automatiser l'installation de l'agent OCS via un script exécuté à la fin de l'installation du système.

Dans ce script, pour le moment j'ajoute la clé gpg et le dépot OCS dans le source.list mais pour installer l'agent, je vais devoir passer par la commande apt-get install ocsinventory-agent.

J'aimerai savoir s'il existe des arguments à coller derrière afin d'automatiser l'installation, à la manière de l'installation silencieuse sous Windows "/S /SERVER=ipduserver /SSL=0" par exemple ?

Looking at the TCP trace, it looks like the call stops at be102.rbx-g1-nc5.fr.eu which is an OVH where the ocsinventory server are.

Also the call works locally and in other datacenters.

I have ocs inventory agent running on RHEL. on the server it shows software installs that were done through yum/dnf, but i want to see any software that was not installed with the package manager.

for example. I want to see if someone installed the oracle client. or any other exe's that were just unzipped to a directory.

I'm deploying ocs agent from epel rpm on Alma Linux 8 OS which is based on RHEL8 following the ocsinventory documentation. I have some trouble when executing the agent and many error messages:

Bonjour tout est dans le titre. pas de problème pour la remontée des agents Windows (OS & Server) mais ayant 12 VM Linux j'aurais voulu qu'elle remonte également? J'ai installé le dernier agent depuis le git sur une des VM pour mes tests, elle remonte bien mais après le Prolog qui est de 1 heure, elle ne renvoi rien (même pas une visite) sauf si je la force manuellement. J'ai modifié mon fichier cfg. Mais rien à faire. Une idée pour que le prolog fonctionne correctement?

OCS inventory err_execute

I tried to deploy the bash script on the mac, but when it downloads it, it gives an Err_execute error and immediately deletes the package. The script is 100% working, I tried various methods to upload the script and then run it, and just run it.

Disable GPU-specific components in the OCS agent?

I'm currently testing the OCS agent (v2.10.0, from OCS's YUM repo [1]) on RHEL 7.9. This host does have an NVIDIA GPU for running CUDA and the like, but since it doesn't actually need the display, we don't normally run X11/Xorg servers on it.

When I run the agent as shown below, it appears to see that "nvidia-settings" is available, tries to run "nvidia-settings -q all" to gather some info, fails, and then exits with an error. It never submits anything from the host to the configured server.

Example:

I can recreate the symptom simply by running "nvidia-settings -q all". I can also run an Xorg instance for diagnostic purposes, and point to it, and see some reasonable output from the same command, as shown below. But I don't normally have Xorg running, so this is a problem.

Given that, I would still love to be able to gather the info from the GPU some other way via the agent. If that's not possible, it would still work if it could either handle the error, or if I could disable these specific components, so I could still get the other (non-GPU) info into the OCS server.

Is any of this possible?

If I use [snmpget] in my test I can receive back the OID information.

Using [snmpwalk] i have [Timeout: No Response from ...]

I have the same error when I try to get SNMP information by OCS Agent. No data can be collected.

Is there any chance to change the SNMP request to [snmpget] in the Agent's configuration?

How I can define (or force) SNMP community and language on Agent configuration?

Hi folks

I've installed the OCS inventory agent from source (2.9.3) but in my ocs log there is a communication issue everyday. If i run the ocsinventory --force command, it actually works and communicates all the info to the OCS server.

I read in another thread that the OCS agent should version should never be older than the server version, my server is version is 2.5 could this be the problem?
