Hey there,
I'm trying to get SNMP to run on the server, but ran into the issue (?), that custom community strings for snmp display the passwords and passphrases in clear text.
Is this a bug or a feature?
If bug, please try and fix, if feature, I will need to disable the feature again.

Email notification design flaw

There is a huge design flaw on the notification configuration page :

When using SMPT+TLS, you have to provide at least :

- The email address of the sender

- The email address of the recipient

- The credentials of an authorized account

The email address of the sender is missing : ocs server is also using the email address of the recipient to send the email. Therefore, we can't send notifications to distribution groups and the authorized account needs to impersonate the recipients instead of using a generic email like "no-reply@"

Profiles folder overwritten everytime in docker

I'm using docker with v2.12.3, everything is working fine except the profiles folder (where the profiles permissions are stored).

I have the following volume mounted with docker compose :

- /var/docker/ocs/profilesconfdata/_data:/usr/share/ocsinventory-reports/ocsreports/config/profiles

When I edit the permissions, the files in /var/docker/ocs/profilesconfdata/_data are updated, so far so good. But when I stop and start the container, everything is overwritten with the files from the ocs image. It's not persistent. I don't have this kind of problem with the database files for example.

How can I prevent the ocs server from overwritting the files on startup ? It should just read them, but be able to update them if necessary.

I am a new user of OCS Inventory and I am currently managing a migration project. I have successfully set up the server and deployed the agents to my network.

I need to extract a full report of ALL the computers registered in the server to a single Excel or CSV file.

Specifically, I need columns for:

- Computer Name and User

- Hardware info (RAM, CPU, HDD)

- Operating System

- Installed Software (specifically to filter Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, etc.)

Is there a native way in the Web Console to export this custom "mass report"? Or could you suggest a SQL query to extract this directly from the database?

My Environment:

- Server OS: [Ubuntu 22.04 LTS]

- OCS Server Version: [2.12.3]

- OCS Agent Version: [Windows Agent 2.11.0.1 (64 bits)]

J'ai installer le serveur GLPI avec la documentation de et recommandation de l'éditeur.

Pas de soucis..interface web pour les deux serveurs sur un même PC..

la connexion à la base de données OCS via GLPI est Ok, l'import de l'inventaire test d'OCS est positif, je retrouve bien mon inventaire via OCS.

Maintenant quand je désactive le site par défaut d'apache2 (a2dissite 000-default.conf) je n'ai pas de remonté d'inventaire de l'agent OCS (le web de la console fonctionne correctement). le web de la console de GLPI est off: Err. 404

Si j'active le site de GLPI le web GLPI est fonctionnel, mais pas de remonté d'agent OCS..

Injector inventory mismatch

Hello,

I'm having an issue with the injector tool that sends inventories from Server A to Server B.
Both servers are running version 2.12.3.

The problem is that the information displayed on Server B is not the same as on Server A, even though the .ocs file sent to Server B contains the correct data.

Do you have any idea what might be causing this issue?

Je rencontre un problème avec l’outil injector qui envoie les inventaires d’un serveur A vers un serveur B.
Les deux serveurs sont en version 2.12.3.

Le souci est que les informations affichées sur le serveur B ne sont pas identiques à celles du serveur A, alors que le fichier .ocs transmis contient bien les bonnes données.

Auriez-vous une idée de l’origine possible du problème ?

Il y a des manques dans la documentation de la configuration de API,

il faudrait ajouter:

Dans le fichier : /etc/apache2/conf-available/zz-ocsinventory-restapi.conf

commenter la ligne en ajoutant # devant :

Require ip 127.0.0.1

si le fichier "zz-ocsinventory-restapi.conf" n'existe pas dans "/etc/apache2/conf-enabled/"

Il faut l'activer comme suit :

sudo a2enconf zz-ocsinventory-restapi
sudo systemctl restart apache2

Cela devrait faire gagner du temps à pas mal de personnes.

Add file to computer in Administrative Data

Hello,

We had an old OCSinventory server on Windows who crashed.

We have the SQL backup so I thought it's better to install a new up to date OCSinventory server on Debian than upload the SQL backup.

It wasn't that easy be it has been done.

Now we face 2 problems.

In the old Windows version, we added the corresponding invoice to the computer in the Administrative tab. I remember I added that field so we were able to upload file (invoice) to the server for each computer. Now I can still see the name of that field but there are no files anymore and no possibility to add or download one. I checked and the field type is CHECKBOX. Shouldn't it be FILE ? I cant put back FILE as a field type. How to enable that ?
For some computers we lost the date of purchase, it shows 1970-01-01 instead of the real date of purchase and also instead of 01/01/1970.

Do you how I can solve this ?

Connect ocs server through internet nat port

Hi

I am now installed ocs-server on my local network, it work very good with local network device in the same subnet. I am using Nginx Proxy Manager (NPM) to expose it to the internet. Now I cannot connect agent from a random device via the link website which I have exposed.

please give me a way to handle or find out the problem. I can log in and manage ocs through the internet using the preset path. I have opened port 80 and 443 on the firewall.

User session timeout

I'm unable to limit the user session timeout to 600 seconds to reduce opportunities for unauthorized access.

What I did:

- Edited the php.ini file and updated the value session.gc_maxlifetime = 600 and restarted the Apache service and the server.

- Added the value define("OCS_SESSION_TIMEOUT", "600") to the ocsinventory-reports/ocsreports/dbconfig.inc.php file.

Do you have any idea how we can implement it?

Upload MSI: CSRF ATTACK!!!

i do some first steps with OCS and run the docker 2.12.3 version.

I want to deploy a msi file and when uploading it, I get a "CSRF ATTACK!!!"-error. In the docker-folder I already included in nginx/conf/ocsinventory.conf.template under location /:

proxy_read_timeout ${READ_TIMEOUT};
proxy_connect_timeout ${CONNECT_TIMEOUT};
proxy_send_timeout ${SEND_TIMEOUT};
client_max_body_size ${MAX_BODY_SIZE};

and in conf/ocsinventory-reports.conf i updatet several upload-entries to a higher amount.

php_value post_max_size 1001m
php_value upload_max_filesize 1000m

Is there something else which has to be modified?

Docker You can't send a file larger than 2MMB

Unable to store the agent due to error. I am familiar with the php.ini max upload size, however this is a docker container. I tried adding to the my.cnf in the Mysql container and restart via docker compose however it did not help. Any ideas where this setting should be changed. I been working at it for a while now and figured I would reach out for help. Also 2MMB is a typo so that could be why I cant upload becuase 2MMB is not a size.

Criterias for cron_mailer.php to send e-mails

I have NOTIF_FOLLOW enabled and NOTIF_PROG_TIME is set to 06:00 PM.

By some reason, the "php cront_mailer.php" does nothing, unless I "hack it" and change the "if" line to always true. Like this:

Total beginner - Software does not show

Software section comes up empty. I have gotten as far as phpMyAdmin, found where the software table lives, ocsweb>software

There are over 4,000,000 entries in the software table.

Is there any routine maintenance, say under Operations that can be done to cut the size down, IF the size is what is causing Software not to show up in the OCS Inventory page?

Can't make agent work with Docker + SSL

Hi, I have set up a server (debian 12 + ocs docker image 2.12.3)

agent on windows 10 22h2 version 2.1.1.1

Architecture :

Windows Agent (with root-ca file deployed and specified in the config file) -> Docker Nginx reverse proxy [enforces https same root ca] -> Docker Ocs Inventory server (root-ca file deployed and specified in the config file)

The ocsreports interface is working fine with https, but no machine inventory appears.

I tried editing many configuration files (including apache inside the container) but to no avail

No apache access logs are written when the agent inventory is triggered.

Logs are written when accessing the webui.

I also noted the source ip in the apache logs are those of the reverse proxy and not the client computer.

In dockerfile & docker-compose, I defined :

OCS_SSL_CERT=/certs/ocs.pem

Now, i want to import an .ocs file from an agent. When i choose "local import" i have no choice. I can only do manually entries. I have no upload button or something else. What can i do?

I tried to import manually via terminal.

Therefore i need “Ocsinventory_local.pl”, but it is not to find on the link.

Hi, i'm trying to install OCS Inventory 2.12.3 using tar.gz file from github link.
and using mysql community server version 8.4. (Not Using MariaDB as database).
- the OCS Server installation completed successfuly
- when i try to access the web, it show this error
- "ERROR: MySQL for PHP is not properly installed.Try installing MySQL for php package (Debian: php5-mysql)"
The question :
- is OCS Server not support MySQL-Community-Server (not MariaDB) as it's database ?
- what log i should check to solved this issue ?

software count show value but no result

Problem of compatibility with old agent

Hello,

we use OCS inventory 2.1 RC1 on a old CentOS 5.x with Mysql 4.

Recently, we create a new server (ubuntu LTS 24.x) with the last version of OCS Inventory (2.12.3) and MariaDB (10.11.13).

We encounter multiples problems, as we used a very old version, as:

update the database shema (detect incorrect version of database : we executed manually all sql file since the correct version)
the installer clear the database after set database parameters (value of GUI_VERSION was too old in database : i manually update the value)
...

But it works now :)

We started to update few agents and notice that it not works with the new server.

When we start agent, communication works with server (code 200), but when it tries to do do report, it fails (code 500).

After some researches, we enable OCS_OPT_DBI_PRINT_ERROR in /etc/apache2/conf-enabled/z-ocsinventory-server.conf, and we found in /var/log/apache2/error.log :

DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Unknown column 'SERVERNAME' in 'INSERT INTO' at /usr/share/perl5/Apache/Ocsinventory/Server/Inventory/Update.pm line 173.

We discovered that some agents create reports with fields that not exist in database, as :

Windows agent 2.1.1.3 under Windows 11
MacOS Agent 2.1.x/2.3.x/2.4.x/2.6.x/2.8.x under MacOSX 10.13.x

With Ocs Inventory 2.1, the server ignore the values but not the version 2.12.3.

The problem seems come from printers part :

We will update the agents to the last version for all computers compatibles, but as we have a lot of old computers, we solved the problem by adding the fields in database :

ALTER TABLE printers ADD COLUMN RESOLUTION varchar(255) after DESCRIPTION;
ALTER TABLE printers ADD COLUMN SHARED varchar(255) after DESCRIPTION;
ALTER TABLE printers ADD COLUMN NETWORK varchar(255) after DESCRIPTION;
ALTER TABLE printers ADD COLUMN COMMENT varchar(255) after DESCRIPTION;
ALTER TABLE printers ADD COLUMN SHARENAME varchar(255) after DESCRIPTION;

I hope this could help some people, and the next version of Ocs Inventory server fix the problem.

Troubleshooting 403 errors in agent checkin

New install of ocsinventory, all modules on the same (debian) server. /ocs-reports seems to be working fine now, but when I install the agent on a test machine it can't reach the server module located at /ocsinventory

The relevant line in the agent logs is:

ERROR *** AGENT => Failed to send Prolog <HTTP Status Code #403>

I've also tried manually pointing a browser at http://x.x.x.x/ocsinventory and I do indeed get a 403 error. When I do the same from the server itself I get a blank page, which I assume is intended.

I do not have a firewall or any network-level blocks between the agent computer and the server. I assume I have misconfigured something.

If I compare permissions between /usr/share/ocsinventory-reports and /usr/share/ocsinventory-server, the only difference is that /ocsinventory-reports is owned by www-data www-data and ocsinventory-server is owned by root root. Is it possible that's the source of my problem? I'm hesitant to just go changing owners without fully understanding who the owner is *supposed* to be.

I'm trying to install OCS Inventory for the first time. I've been following the "Setting up an OCS Inventory Server" instructions in the manual, I've completed every step successfully as far as I can tell, but when I browse to the /ocs-reports/ page on my server, I get an otherwise blank page with the error message in the title. The troubleshooting section of the manual (as well as the best information I could find by searching around) suggest that this is an issue with my apache configuration. That's very probable; I'm a relative newbie to configuring web servers. Is there an example configuration I should compare against? And/or, does that error message suggest to anyone that I've missed or err'd on a particular step of the setup?

Hello,

We have a server with OCS Inventory running version 1.02 RC3. We want to install a new server, install a newer version of OCS Inventory, and migrate the data from the old OCS Inventory to the new one.

In the FAQ section of the OCS Inventory website (https://wiki.ocsinventory-ng.org), they don't recommend updating OCS Inventory to the latest version directly. They recommend updating to version 2.0 and then to the latest version.

The problem I'm encountering is that I can't find version 2.0 of OCS Inventory available for download. Where can I get it?

I have an infrastructure with one OCS Inventory master and five slaves. I'm having issues with the master — it's experiencing high CPU usage by the MariaDB database, and the web application is frequently freezing. It's running on Oracle Linux 9.5 with the latest version of OCS Inventory.

I have already applied the tuning configurations as recommended in the OCS Wiki, but the behavior remains the same. The server also fails to process the software, computer, and CVE scripts. What is the proper configuration for the master, considering it receives a large volume of data from 5 slaves every 5 minutes?

Here is my issue. I installed a GLPI server and an OCS server on Debian 12. No issues during the installation of both machines; I installed the OCS module in GLPI, everything is fine. The configuration of OCS is fine until the computer inventory process, where I encounter a 403 error.

I tested the OCS client on different machines and faced the same issue. I can access my page at servername/ocsreports, but servername/ocsinventory gives me a 403 error. I believe I did everything that seems logical... A complete reinstallation of OCS, verification of the configuration. Everything seems fine, but I can't find the source of the problem. I’ve tried almost everything I found on the web while ensuring I understood what I was doing, and still nothing...

So :

- I have a GLPI server who works fine

- An OCS Server who works fine

- Communication between GLPI and OCS seems to be ok

- I can reach http://servername/ocsreports but not http://servername/ocsinventory

I'm asking for your help.

I have just installed a server under RHEL9 with the latest OCS version.

The inventories are not being sent to the server with error messages “cannot establish communication: 500 can't connect to ocs server” on the ocsinventory-agent.log server.

Local inventory is functional.

This command “curl -vk https://ocs_serveur/ocsinventory” returns :

"install driver(mysql) failed: can't locate DBD/mysql.pm: /usr/local/lib64/perl5/5.32/DBD/mysql.pm: permission denied at (eval 114) line3 at /usr/local/share/perl5/5.32/Apache/OcsInventory/Server/System.pm line 217"

All PERL modules are installed, including perl::DBD:mysql and mariadb.

However, the DBD directory under /usr/local/lib64/perl5/5.32 does not exist.

Mysql.pm is under /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl

Hi all I'm new to OCS, today i installed a fresh copy of OCS Server 2.12.3 in a Debian 12 machine following the docs: https://wiki.ocsinventory-ng.org/03.Basic-documentation/Setting-up-a-OCS-Inventory-Server/ without errors.

(Not secured yet)

After loggin in with admin/admin the mainpage is in continuous autorefresh less then 1sec, so I can't click on anything; if i take the time and click on a function i'm redirected to the login page, but credentials admin/admin are not working.

How can i stop this behavior?

How to enable Authentication for REST APIs

Can anyone help me set up the authentication for OCS Inventory REST API from the server?

Currently in our case we are getting response from API endpoint ocsapi/v1/computers without any authentication. We have tried to configure the auth z-ocsinventory-server.conf configuration file as mentioned here but still not working.

Can anyone tell us the configuration required to do in the OCS Inventory Server setup to restrict the APIs to work with Authentication params only.

I am need to collect information about Connected users from Domain (AD)
Now its working, but after weekend (when no one is logged on PC) i see that Connected user field is empty for all PC in inventory.
How i can configure option that this field always show the LAST CONNECTED USER on PC?
(Maybe i must disable collect info on boot options? e.t.c.)

And the next question, how i can make mass update action to get this info from my server directly?

TAG option does not appear on Administer subnet

Hello everyone,

i have a question i wanted to automatically add devices in a subnet to get a specific tag and i thought i do that with network scan but i dont have the tag option like in the documentation its shown to be there i set the IP_DISCOVERY_LINK_TAG_NETWORK to 1 still no change and the admin user is sadmin.

Maybe someone can help or can tell me the right way to do it if this is the wrong way to apply tags i know i can do it manually but that would take way too long.

Custom Field in OCS Inventory Menu

On the older version of the OCS Inventory Server, I noticed that among the various "dots" (menu items) on the left-hand side, there is a custom one named "Location". This menu contains a list of all inventoried locations.

My task is to recreate this functionality on a new OCS Inventory Server (2.12.3) deployed on a different machine. Could you clarify whether this "Location" menu is implemented as a plugin (if so, which plugin?), a code modification, or something else entirely?

GENERATE_OCS_FILES Execution Time

I used the GENERATE_OCS_FILES feature on my server to download .ocs files into the folder specified in the OCS_FILES_PATH setting. The download started successfully, but after two days, it was still ongoing, so I decided to stop it.

I would like to know: does the download process continue indefinitely as long as agents keep sending data, or does it eventually stop after processing all available data?

Importing Assets via CSV

I downloaded the .csv file of assets from an older OCS Inventory Server and tried to import it into a new OCS Inventory Server (version 2.12.3). However, I encountered an error.

After some investigation, I realized that OCS Inventory Server operates in update mode. This means, to successfully import data using the "Import from CSV" feature, OCS Inventory Server must already have detected all devices via agents installed on the computers.

However, on the older server, hundreds of data entries (such as tags and additional devices) were added manually over the years. These entries are included in the exported .csv file. Is it possible to import this .csv file into the new server without errors?

If not, what would be the recommended way to add the missing devices to the new server?

(It seems the GENERATE_OCS_FILES function only works with assets with active agents, so I think this is not my case)

I am currently using OCS Inventory Server version 2.12.3 on an Ubuntu 24.04 machine. Using the injector.pl script, I successfully uploaded an .ocs file related to an asset.

Later, I connected the OCS agent from my Windows PC, which was correctly and automatically registered in the inventory server. However, when I tried to download the .ocs files using the GENERATE_OCS_FILES feature, I noticed that only the .ocs file for my Windows PC was downloaded and not the one without the agent I imported with the script.

Does the GENERATE_OCS_FILES function work only for assets with an active agent communicating with the server?

This question may already have been asked but I can't find any real good answer to my issue.

I'm trying to put my own SSL certificates on my OCS server (Debian12 with Apache). Seems simple on the thousand tutos I've seen. I have modified the vhost file

But I don't know what to do after that. This is not working : I can't reach the OCS server via HTTPS on another machine. Even worst, I can't do that in the local server either.

Everything becomes reachable only when I put back the initial config of the vhost.

Can somebody help please?

Good morning, we have a CentOS 5.11 machine with OCS Server version 2.1RC1 in production, which allows us to download .ocs files from the web interface using GENERATE_OCS_FILES. We cloned the machine to perform tests, but GENERATE_OCS_FILES is not working. What could be the problem? How does the GENERATE_OCS_FILES function work specifically?

Server doesn't receive data from windows agent

I've spent a bunch of hours but still unable to resolve my issue. I used this instruction and looks like OCSInventory-Server was installed correct (at least no perl modules error or smth). Everything works well except getting data from OCS Inventory Agent Version 2.10.1.0 (win). db/urls works fine e.g. https://help.host/ocsreports/ and I checked /etc/apache2/conf-enabled/z-ocsinventory-server.conf ~100 times

Hello everyone,

i have a problem with my ocs inventory installation, so far everything works fine my ocsreports site with ssl works and the agent from my windows client sends POST to the server.
But the problem i have right now is that the communication server dont write anything in the database because of this error:

And i cant figure it out the problem the INC path is also set to the path in the error, the permissions are set to apache and i tried it with root too, i also reinstalled it. Maybe someone had a similar problem and knows a solution.

PC inventory inserted in Server Category of iTOP

I have been able to synchronise data between OCS and iTOP. Agent for Windows has been installed on 1 PC. When launching the synchronisation, the inventoried PC data has been inserted in the Server category in iTOP. I want to know which field is causing this issue as the data should have been captured in the PC category in iTOP. Please help

Software missing or in wrong section?

We are seeing an inconsistency with our OCS NG deployment where when performing a criteria-based search from the web GUI and specifying something with search parameter All software Name LIKE firefox, this comes back with some hits but we have now identified that this does not include registered agents/computers for which we have confirmed to have the software queried for. That is to say, we have computers that (for example), we know have Firefox installed, have similar OCS agents installed as compared to other PCs in our environment, and we have configured everything the same. Oddly enough, these computers are submitting inventory but it's not reporting that one specific software.

We assumed the user somehow found a way to install the software to their profile however after investigation, this does not appear to be the case.

We have been looking at the server and agent logs after turning on more verbose debug logging for both. We have also tried restarting the Agent service on affected workstations to determine if the outcome changes based on us starting the service manually.

The only significant changes we have made recently are adding an OCS plugin for collecting user installed apps which we found on the official OCS website. One agent is reporting such user installed apps as expected but is also including Firefox in its results which is contrary to what we see when we are logged into the Windows machine itself. Due to this, we are seeing that it does not report Firefox in the Software inventory section when inspecting the computer from the OCS web GUI.

Additionally, we have made sure that this is not just a limitation of how the results are immediately populated where if multiple software is installed that includes the query keyword, OCS has a habit of only showing the first match. This is not what we are seeing with our discovered problem.

We need assistance in identifying where the issue is occurring. Because the inconsistencies are practically random, we are leaning towards blaming the server however we are not able to find proof in either the Apache logs nor the Agent logs on the workstations.

It's odd that we see this with only 2 PCs but not all other agents that are running similar OS with similar config. It's almost as if the problem could actually be the OS and not the application. We need to prove that this is the case and not OCS.

How else can we identify any possible errors for OCS aside from logs?
