Hello,

How to add a field "FILE" in administrative data?

When I add a file, I only get those field types:

TEXT
TEXTAREA
SELECT
CHECKBOX
DATE
RADIOBUTTON
NUMBER

I am sure I was able to add a field in which I could put a file, before in a previous version of OCS.

Add file to computer in Administrative Data

Hello,

We had an old OCSinventory server on Windows who crashed.

We have the SQL backup so I thought it's better to install a new up to date OCSinventory server on Debian than upload the SQL backup.

It wasn't that easy be it has been done.

Now we face 2 problems.

In the old Windows version, we added the corresponding invoice to the computer in the Administrative tab. I remember I added that field so we were able to upload file (invoice) to the server for each computer. Now I can still see the name of that field but there are no files anymore and no possibility to add or download one. I checked and the field type is CHECKBOX. Shouldn't it be FILE ? I cant put back FILE as a field type. How to enable that ?
For some computers we lost the date of purchase, it shows 1970-01-01 instead of the real date of purchase and also instead of 01/01/1970.

Do you how I can solve this ?

I've create many categories

in all software list the categories a not affected to the software

I've run the php script (cron_all_software.php) and no changes
some software are not avalaible in the list to be add to the category list

How can I fix this ?

Thanks for your extensive and great work with OCS Inventory.

This is our current setup:
Version OCSReports: 2.7 (Running on Debian GNU/Linux server)
OCS Inventory NG android Agent version 2.7

We are using in a production server since some time without problems. We have windows, linux and macOS agents, and several standard and custom plugins deployed working fine.

Now we're trying to extend the use to android phones also. We've tested the agent, it's working fine, but we would like to obtain some other information (for example the lastpublicip plugin)...I can't find information regarding the plugins deployment for android. Maybe we can just run some scripts in Android and extract the contents or just upload the results...
Could you please tell me if that's possible and how to advance on that?
We're looking for a setup for standard users (no adb, termux, or root access), but if requires something else we could evalute it of course.

Issues with the OCS Inventory master

I have an infrastructure with one OCS Inventory master and five slaves. I'm having issues with the master — it's experiencing high CPU usage by the MariaDB database, and the web application is frequently freezing. It's running on Oracle Linux 9.5 with the latest version of OCS Inventory.

I have already applied the tuning configurations as recommended in the OCS Wiki, but the behavior remains the same. The server also fails to process the software, computer, and CVE scripts. What is the proper configuration for the master, considering it receives a large volume of data from 5 slaves every 5 minutes?

Merging the itmanagement-notes with duplicates?

Situation:

I have a computer with several "Notes" attached in its administrative data. Suddenly (or not so) the duplicate of this computer appeared. I merged these duplicates and the notes from older computer will be lost with the old data. Notes attached to newer computer will remain.

The only way to save old notes I found, is to change the hardware_id of old notes to the hwid of newer duplicate.

Admin data TEXTAREA vs TEXT

Before 2.5 there were two types of the texts in administrative data: TEXTAREA (multi-line) and TEXT (single line).

These types remains in 2.12, but since 2.5 the textarea displayed as text.

For example: (real code taken from my inventory). FIEILDS_41 declared as TEXTAREA.
but I see it as single line text

When I changed the HTML (using Chrome built-in devtools) to:

<textarea name="fields_41" id="fields_41" rows="5" cols="40"></textarea>

I saw what I want: multiline text area. What and where should be corrected in php's to show the textarea as TEXT AREA, not as single line text?

Custom Field in OCS Inventory Menu

Good evening,
On the older version of the OCS Inventory Server, I noticed that among the various "dots" (menu items) on the left-hand side, there is a custom one named "Location". This menu contains a list of all inventoried locations.

My task is to recreate this functionality on a new OCS Inventory Server (2.12.3) deployed on a different machine. Could you clarify whether this "Location" menu is implemented as a plugin (if so, which plugin?), a code modification, or something else entirely?

GENERATE_OCS_FILES Execution Time

Good evening,
I used the GENERATE_OCS_FILES feature on my server to download .ocs files into the folder specified in the OCS_FILES_PATH setting. The download started successfully, but after two days, it was still ongoing, so I decided to stop it.

I would like to know: does the download process continue indefinitely as long as agents keep sending data, or does it eventually stop after processing all available data?

I am currently using OCS Inventory Server version 2.12.3 on an Ubuntu 24.04 machine. Using the injector.pl script, I successfully uploaded an .ocs file related to an asset.

Later, I connected the OCS agent from my Windows PC, which was correctly and automatically registered in the inventory server. However, when I tried to download the .ocs files using the GENERATE_OCS_FILES feature, I noticed that only the .ocs file for my Windows PC was downloaded and not the one without the agent I imported with the script.

Does the GENERATE_OCS_FILES function work only for assets with an active agent communicating with the server?

PC inventory inserted in Server Category of iTOP

I have been able to synchronise data between OCS and iTOP. Agent for Windows has been installed on 1 PC. When launching the synchronisation, the inventoried PC data has been inserted in the Server category in iTOP. I want to know which field is causing this issue as the data should have been captured in the PC category in iTOP. Please help

Nous avons installé un nouvel agent (2.10.1) depuis quelques semaines pour remplacer une ancienne version. Depuis nous avons des remontés de clients inconnus qui ne font pas partie de notre inventaire.

Les données sont cohérentes, avec un modèle, numero de série, hostname, IP, CPU etc.

Point particulier, ces clients ont tous des caractéritiques communes :

Hostname sur 6 caractères
IP venant de Microsoft systématiquement
RAM : 1024 MB
CPU : Intel XEON E5-2673 v4
OS : Windows 10 Enterprise
UUID : 11111111-2222-3333-4444-555555555555
Chacun de ces clients se connecte une seule et unique fois jusqu'ici

Nous avons pensé à des VM, RDP, VPN mais jusqu'ici aucune correlation.

Auriez-vous des explications ou des idées concernant ces connexions ?

Apache crash:

Process Apache Web Server httpd crashed with status "Segmentation fault"

Generally apache crash almost always (few times at a diffrent time) at the same time (hh:01) when linux VM's (on board with OCS agents) starts to contact ocs server to send packets, but not always (every hours), just four, five times per day. After those crash the process restart automatically with no need for our intervention, but sometime httpd service not start and we need to start it manually

Error "No user provided" after installation logon

Hi, I installed the OCS Inventory 2.12.2 and realized the logon initial with user admin, so I changed the password.

After I realized logoff the admin's session and tried logon again with the new password, but occurred the error "No user provided".

I tried to created a new user by command insert in DB and occurred the same error.

Can you help me about this error?

Unable to delete the agent after synchronisation

Hello team,

I am experiencing an issue with two OCS NG agents installed on two ubuntu systems. Both agents are reporting to the OCS NG server, and I have created asset categories for these agents. However, both agents are appearing in the same asset category that I created. (Not only two devices I am observing this issue in frequently on several devices under same asset category)

**Problem 1: **When I try to send data to iTop via iTop extensions, only one device is showing up in iTop. The other device is not appearing in iTop at all.

**Problem 2: I uninstalled the agent that was reporting to iTop from the host level and from the OCS NG server. Despite this, the status of the device in iTop is still "production" status not moving to "obsolete."

Questions:

    How can I ensure that both devices appear in iTop?
    Is it possible to delete or change device status to the "obsolete" status which is deleted or uninstalled device?
Additional Attempt:

    Edited the deletion rules to delete the device from iTop.

    Changed the Full Load Interval in the deletion rule from the default to 30 minutes.

    After changing the rule, If I start running the cron again, the deletion policy resets to its default settings.

Environment:

    OCS NG server version: 2.11.1

    OCS NG agent version: 2.10.0

    iTop version: 3.1.1

    iTop extensions in use: Data Collector for OCS Inventory NG(Version: 2.0.0) & Data model for OCS Inventory(Version: 2.0.0)

IIS Pages not showing up

We setup a test version of OCS with the agent being installed on Windows and the server on debian 12.

Server version: 2.12.2

Agent version: 2.10.1.0

On the our server with the agent installed on it, we have some IIS pools and we want to see them in our inventory of OCS.

Why do the IIS pages do not show up?

Maybe important: The only thing we hear from IIS is about the "IIS URL Rewrite Module 2".

I am sorry, if am asking something completely stupid here, I have tried to understand the documentation and think, I have installed it correctly.

Note: other Software pieces, like Microsoft services, Microsoft Edge, ... are shown.

Main page not showing statistics graphs

I've recently updated to the latest version 2.12.2, but even on prior versions, the statistics part on main page are not showing all the graphs it used to, for example:

It misses the OS Versions, Last contact, Bios graphs. Does anyone also had this problem and/or know how to solve it?

Inventory - All software not showing some versions

Hi,

I've deployed firefox via gpo in windows clients, a new 126.0 version. Installations are ok. When I search a computer name and its software it appears correctly in OCS console (the new version of firefox).

The problem comes when I search all software in inventory menu. I filter in "search" and I put "mozilla firefox" and showing 35 results, some versions as 102.0, 103.0 but not the last installed in some computers (126.0).

If I use Inventory - search with various criteria I can use filter working, but what happens with the before menu option? Thanks beforehand.

Service encounter error <OCS Inventory Agent encounter an error (exit code is 4 => Failed to talk with Communication Server)>.

I didn't change any off the passwords of the DB and OCS. What can i do to fix this?

Computer data can be updated after installation, but cannot be updated the next day.You need to manually execute the ocs program and require the mac computer password to report for updates.Do you know that the permissions on the mac are not open?

I try to use Package Builder with Powershell script method. When I see log on windows agent C:\ProgramData\OCS Inventory NG\Agent\Download.log, I have result indicate sucessfully deploy but not the case

I have Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS and I configured my server with https connection using LetsEncrypt certificate. I connect my OCSServer with https://fqdn/ocsreports/ and it is functional. When trying to run my Windows ocsagent with SSL = 1, it shows an error in the log and does not run the PC inventory.

After upgrade from 2.6 to 2.8 the tables only contain the inscription processing..The ocs server works properly and collects data from clients, but the report does not display them

however, the downloaded xml file contains all the data from bokmarks software, hardware, network etc. How to diagnose the problem, there are no errors in the ocsreports logs. I have php 7.4.33. Regards Slawek

It appears the macOS packager is no longer available for download and has been replaced with (OCSNG-Unix-Packager-1.0). Is there any documentation on how to package with the config and sh files? I am trying to deploy Mac agent 2.10.0 using Jamf and have no idea where to begin. I deployed the agent to my Windows fleet using Intune with no issues.

Hi, I downloaded and installed OCS Inv. a few weeks ago, to try it out and see the possibilitie.

So far so good, installation on Debian 12 went fine, sync GestSup to OCS API now OK, about 20 agents deployed to see ho it all works, looking good.

Now I just tried a deployment (in fact a simple cmd script to start a service on selected Remote PCs), Buikd OK, Validate OK, but in the menu I can't see 'Assignment Rules' (like described in this link (https://wiki.ocsinventory-ng.org/05.Deployment/Deploying-packages-or-executing-commands-on-client-hosts/),

So for a basic installation, what could be the reason for this menu entry not to be there ? A Parameter missing ? CheckBox somewhere ? Permission ? (admin account used)

With the agent in the current version 2.10 on an AIX 7.3. I still have the following 2 problems:
1.) the following warning messages appear during execution:

        Configuration Database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk1 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk2 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk3 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
0516-306 lslv: Unable to find hdisk4 in the Device
        Configuration Database.
The named command lslv is referenced in the LVM.pm module in the agent, but I was unable to find the reason for the warning.
2) Standalone.sh in the tools of the agent does not work for AIX and SLES. Because of this I have tried the pp of PAR::Packer to generate a binary agen. this worked well on SLES15 but does not on AIX.
The command
pp -C -o ocsinventory-agent.bin -x ocsinventory-agent
produces this error message:
SYSTEM ERROR in executing ocsinventory-agent : 256 at /opt/freeware/share/perl5/site_perl/Module/ScanDeps.pm line 1601.

Are there any Ideas to fix one or both of my problems?

I upgraded ocs version 2.11 to 2.12. 
I was connecting via CAS authentication. 
But since the update the CAS authentication no longer works, I have a blank page instead.
I put define('AUTH_TYPE', 6); in var.php
I modified the cas.config.php file with the cas_host, cas_port and cas_uri parameters. 
Does somebody have an idea ?
