Administrative Data lost upgrading 2.3.1 to 2.5

Question

Hello,

I'm trying to update my 2.3.1 Ubuntu 14.04 server to the new 2.5 release.
The upgrade goes smooth following this tutorial however when I restart apache2 I find out that all the data I've put in my custom fields are gone.

I've now rolled back the machine to a pre-upgrade snapshot.

I've read this bug report however I'm not able to understand if there is a temporary manual fix to upgrade or if it will be release for server version 2.6

Can you help me?

this happens to me from 2.1 to 2.3

I think the devolopment team should have a test sheet and should test upgrading form different versions.

So it could be avoided that a release version has nearly no new bugs for existing features.
