Change computer name [closed]

Question

After changing computer name, and Running ocs agent. Ocs creating a new record.

Can you add a machine with changed name without creating a new record? Like modify old record with a new machine name ?
Or can you change machine name already added machines  ?

changing an existing name is possible via mysql .. but it should be enough to use the deduplication feature.

So what is diffrence with merging duplicates and deleting old duplicate when after merging old ID is not saved ? It's like old machnie administrative data is saved on merged one or something more?
