Is it feasible to think I can run OCS on my i3 laptop (linux FC21)?

I'm looking for a way to run the OCS client on all my customers' desktops and gather the reports with my laptop when I go onsite to each subnet. I was originally thinking I would run the server from my office but got concerned with security. Are there any self-employed network admins(or firms) doing such a thing with OCS?

The best way is to run an OCS Inventory NG Server on internet. You can use an htpassword on the server for protection.

Thanks. So a stock Deb(wheezy) with all the OCS NG components with tcp 443 DNAT to local lan ip should allow me to collect from all my sites?
