Can I use IP address to contact the OCS server with my agent [closed]

In the configuration of my agent, I want to contact the server with the IP address instead of DNS name. Can I do it ?

Yes, you can !

But it's not the best way.

There is many good reason to use a DNS name :

• a DNS is more easy to learn
• SSL is made over DNS
• http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2219 (Use of DNS Aliases for Network Services - RFC 2219)
• and many other

If you have an active directory, you should have a DNS server : it's really simple to create a new entry for having a name !
