Is MariaDB supported as a replacement for MySQL?

CentOS 7 does not have MySQL listed in its repository for installation.  I notice that MariaDB may be a drop-in replacement for MySQL from searching other web sites.  Can anyone confirm that MariaDB is okay to use instead (v1.5.5.40-2)?

Only MySql is supported. For install in CenOS add the MySQL Yum Repository: See step by step in http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-repo-excerpt/5.6/en/linux-installation-yum-repo.html.

MariaDB 5 is fully compatible with mysql. You can use it to install OCS.

The best way to install OCS on Centos 7 is to use the repo from Remi Collet.

The EPEL yum repository for CentOS 7 has ocsinventory-server - which should 'just work' with the stock mariadb.   The EPEL repository policy of not overwriting any base distribution packages should make it somewhat safer than installing from the remi repository.
